The Role
We are currently seeking an IT Support Engineer to join an established organisation based in Tallaght, Dublin 24, on an initial 3-month contract with strong scope for extension.
Ideally, we are looking for candidates with 1 to 2 years’ experience in an IT Support / Service Desk environment who are looking to develop their technical skills and grow into the role over time.
The successful candidate will provide technical support and timely resolution to IT service requests, while delivering a high standard of customer service to users across the business.
This is a hands-on support position suited to someone with experience across Windows environments, Active Directory, PC hardware, software applications and basic networking.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line technical support to users via telephone, email and other support channels.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, networking and user-related IT issues.
- Provide professional, timely and customer-focused support throughout the incident resolution process.
- Identify, assess and prioritise technical issues, service requests and user problems.
- Support users within a Windows and Active Directory environment.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot PCs, hardware, drivers and common business applications.
- Support mobile hardware provisioning, including preparing and issuing mobile devices to users.
- Carry out 356 Admin activities as required within the IT support environment.
- Investigate technical problems and identify appropriate solutions using structured troubleshooting techniques.
- Utilise available technical resources and documentation to resolve incidents efficiently.
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the appropriate support lead or technical team.
- Maintain a high level of customer service when handling technical queries, problems and complaints.
- Work closely with other members of the IT team to maintain effective support processes and service standards.
- Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities relating to new technologies, procedures and service improvements.
- Assist with additional IT projects and technical activities as required.
- Manage multiple support requests and priorities while working effectively under pressure.
Key Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in an IT Support, Desktop Support or Service Desk environment.
- A willingness and ability to learn, develop and grow within the role.
- Experience providing IT support within a business or corporate environment.
- Experience with 356 Admin.
- Experience with mobile hardware provisioning.
- A basic understanding of networking, including common connectivity and network-related issues.
- Strong experience supporting users within a Windows and Active Directory environment.
- Good knowledge of PC hardware, architecture, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with hardware, drivers, peripherals and general desktop technologies.
- Previous application support experience would be an advantage.
- Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting common software applications.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong telephone and user-handling skills.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
