Infrastructure Engineer POSITION OVERVIEW Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer/SA Reports To: Department: Infrastructure / Managed Services Location: Remote (United States) FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Type: Full-Time POSITION SUMMARY The Infrastructure Engineer supplies customers with Oracle Utilities software infrastructure installation and support, communicates technical concepts to client IT personnel, and implements standardized processes and procedures, while assisting with Red Clay internal network and VPN connectivity as needed. This fully remote role is business-critical and time-sensitive, directly supporting RCC Global LLC's mission to deliver resilient, high-quality Oracle Utilities solutions to utility clients across North America. This is a fully remote position open to candidates within the United States. The Infrastructure Engineer is expected to maintain a reliable home office, high-speed internet connectivity, and availability during core business hours across client time zones. Occasional travel (approximately 10–25%) may be required for go-lives, critical incidents, data center work, or on-site infrastructure activities that cannot be performed remotely. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are representative of the work performed in this role. Other duties may be assigned as business needs evolve. Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure that supports application resilience Perform problem and root cause management in the areas of system performance, security, and connectivity Tune hardware and software configurations for local and client environments Plan, in detail, all tasks needed for server hardware or software deliverables, and communicate and explain these plans to non-technical teams to obtain consensus and approval Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues and provide solutions; ensure voice and data flow smoothly Identify system and/or application issues and work with users and/or clients as needed to resolve them Provide on-call support services with flexible hours and schedule Update hardware needed to maintain the network and servers Proactively identify opportunities to save costs and more effectively manage servers Maintain contact with consultants to proactively identify changes as needed Create and define metrics that accurately reflect the current state of a given process Participate in process improvement initiatives and adhere to client procedures and standards Provide technical support to RCC Global LLC employees Explain procedures clearly, in writing or verbally, to team members or users REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate degree in Network Systems Administration, Information Systems Technology, Engineering, or a related technology field, or equivalent experience 5+ years' experience with Linux server configuration for lightweight deployment (no GUI), including creating custom kernels, automating startup, and recovering damaged systems 5+ years' experience with shell scripting, middleware, and SQL Networking experience including firewalls & VPN (SonicWALL), Wi-Fi management, network switch configuration (VLANs and trunking), and multi-switch topologies (Dell managed switches) Familiarity with Linux via the command line (required) Strong oral and written communication skills, including explaining plans or issues to non-technical teams in a distributed, remote setting Reliable home office with high-speed internet, and ability to travel up to 10–25% (clients generally within the United States) Ability to provide on-call support with flexible hours, identify risks, and quickly resolve time-sensitive issues Experience tuning hardware and software configurations for local and client environments Ability to create and define metrics that accurately reflect the current state of a process PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS WebLogic Administration: Management of clustered environments Monitoring and scripted deployment of applications Performance tuning and monitoring Virtualization: Experience managing virtualized infrastructure VMWare vCenter, ESXi, Workstation, and Player Oracle VM and OVM Manager Veeam Backup and Restore Additional: Oracle Database Administration experience Experience supporting Microsoft Office and related applications DNS and name registration Active Directory, both GUI and PowerShell manipulation Knowledge of the Oracle Utilities product suite and the energy industry CORE COMPETENCIES Communication & Client Orientation: adapts messaging for technical and non-technical audiences and builds trust with client IT personnel in a distributed setting Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: breaks overwhelming problems into manageable sub-components and drives them to root cause resolution Sense of Urgency & Reliability: treats business-critical issues with appropriate speed and maintains dependable presence during core hours and on-call windows Self-Direction & Accountability: manages workload independently, follows through on commitments, and delivers quality work without close supervision Adaptability & Continuous Learning: actively learns new technologies and applies them to improve outcomes Composure Under Pressure: remains calm and solution-focused during critical incidents, go-lives, and after-hours escalations Collaboration & Ownership: works effectively across teams, shares knowledge, and takes initiative on improvement and cost-saving opportunities WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is a remote, office-style role performed primarily from a home workstation.
