Overview At Sentinel Eagle, we build autonomous UAV systems that work where GPS and communications fail. Our systems combine embedded Linux computers, flight controllers, cameras, sensors, networking, and custom electronics. Many of the hardest problems happen at the boundary of hardware, firmware, and operating systems. We are looking for an Infrastructure / Platform Engineer who will build and maintain a repeatable platform for our edge devices, including CM4/CM5 companion computers, Ground Control Stations, CI/CD pipelines, release processes, fleet inventory, and remote device management. Your mission will be to ensure that code, operating systems, drivers, firmware, and machine configuration remain consistent across devices. Setup, validation, upgrades, and deployments should be automated, auditable, reproducible, and safe. This is not a cloud-only DevOps role. You will work directly with physical hardware, embedded Linux systems, networking, drivers, and developer tooling. Technology Stack Linux on ARM and x86, including systemd, SSH, udev, networking, storage, and kernel modules Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4/5, flight controllers, cameras, and Hailo AI accelerators Docker, Git-based versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and self-hosted build infrastructure Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Nix Python, Bash, VPNs, access control, monitoring, and fleet inventory What you will work on and what problems you may solve Build a one-command workflow for remotely setting up, updating, and validating companion computers, flight controllers, and Ground Control Stations. Create a unified versioning and release model for operating systems, firmware, drivers, containers, configuration, and application software. Develop a source of truth for fleet hardware, firmware, software, configuration, health, and connectivity. Improve secure remote access, update, rollback, recovery, and device replacement processes. Make CI/CD faster, more reliable, and reproducible by improving pipelines, artifacts, dependency pinning, releases, and Terraform-managed infrastructure. What we are looking for Strong practical knowledge of Linux system administration on physical machines, including networking, services, permissions, storage, logs, and recovery. Experience automating provisioning, configuration, validation, deployment, and configuration drift detection. Experience with embedded, edge, bare-metal, ARM, or hardware-integrated systems. Experience with CI/CD, reproducible builds, dependency pinning, artifact management, versioning, and release engineering. A defensive and pragmatic engineering mindset, with strong security awareness, clear communication, and low tolerance for silent failures. Nice to have Experience with Raspberry Pi Compute Modules, UAVs, robotics, companion computers, or Ground Control Stations. Experience with Hailo accelerators, cameras, hardware inference platforms, or vendor-specific drivers and SDKs. Experience managing fleets of physical or intermittently connected devices. Experience with over-the-air updates, image-based provisioning, rollback, secure boot, artifact signing, or SBOMs. Experience with Ansible, Nix, Yocto, Buildroot, Terraform, or self-hosted CI runners.
