Location: 100% remote (must be legally entitled to work in Canada)

Hours per week: 40 hours per week

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Rate: $95/hr Inc.

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Hyper-V & Proxmox Infrastructure Specialist to design, build, validate, and support enterprise virtualization platforms in a production environment. This role will focus on building and optimizing Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox infrastructure while supporting the migration of Windows virtual machine workloads from an existing VMware environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior infrastructure professional with deep hands-on virtualization expertise who enjoys designing scalable platforms, validating production readiness, and contributing to modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and support enterprise Hyper-V and Proxmox virtualization environments.
• Deploy and validate infrastructure components required to support Windows virtual machines at production scale.
• Configure and test virtualization services, platform integrations, networking, storage, clustering, and operational monitoring.
• Plan and execute platform validation, operational readiness testing, and production acceptance activities.
• Support business continuity initiatives by validating backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Assess, plan, and support migration activities from VMware to Hyper-V and/or Proxmox environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture, configurations, migration plans, validation results, and operational procedures.
• Identify platform risks, dependencies, and recommendations while collaborating with project stakeholders throughout implementation.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft Hyper-V in enterprise production environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting Proxmox virtualization platforms.
• Experience designing, building, and supporting Windows virtual machine environments at enterprise scale.
• Strong understanding of virtualization infrastructure, including:
• Compute
• Storage
• Networking
• Clustering
• High Availability
• Lifecycle Management
• Infrastructure Monitoring
• Experience validating infrastructure services, integrations, resiliency, and production readiness.
• Experience supporting VMware migration projects, including planning, dependency analysis, and execution.
• Strong documentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical decisions, risks, and implementation plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading virtualization modernization or data centre transformation initiatives.
• Background supporting hypervisor migration projects from VMware to alternative virtualization platforms.
• Experience with business continuity, disaster recovery, and production readiness testing.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation, repeatable deployment methodologies, and infrastructure standards
