At OCHIN, we value the unique perspectives and experiences of every individual and work hard to maintain a culture rooted in our values.
Founded in Oregon in 2000, OCHIN employs a growing virtual workforce of more than 1,200 skilled professionals, working remotely across 49 states. We offer a generous compensation package and are committed to supporting our employees’ entire well-being by fostering a healthy work-life balance and opportunity for professional advancement. We are curious, collaborative learners who strive to live our values every day. OCHIN is excited to support our continued national expansion and the increasing demand for our innovative tools and services by welcoming new talent to our growing team.
Position Overview:
The Innovation Program Manager helps OCHIN translate innovation, best practices, and strategic initiatives into practical solutions that can be adopted and scaled across the organization and OCHIN's member network. Rather than owning a single operational program, this role manages cross-functional initiatives focused on moving ideas and proven practices from development through translation, implementation, adoption, and spread.
The Innovation Program Manager partners with subject matter experts, program owners, operational teams, and internal and external stakeholders to understand complex problems, identify audience needs, connect work across initiatives, and develop clear strategies and resources that support successful adoption. This role combines program and project management, human-centered design, systems thinking, communication, and visual information design to make complex information actionable and help OCHIN scale innovation and improvement.
Essential Functions:
- Innovation Implementation & Adoption: Lead cross-functional initiatives that translate innovations, validated best practices, and strategic priorities into practical approaches that can be implemented, adopted, and scaled. Develop implementation and adoption strategies, assess readiness and barriers, establish feedback loops, and use lessons learned to continuously improve and spread successful approaches.
- Human-Centered Design & Innovation Translation: Use human-centered design and audience-centered approaches to understand needs, synthesize complex information, and translate technical, operational, or strategic concepts into clear and actionable resources. Develop tools such as implementation guides, visual frameworks, playbooks, leadership materials, and other resources that make complex information easier to understand and apply.
- Cross-Program Integration & Systems Thinking: Identify connections, dependencies, and opportunities across OCHIN programs, initiatives, teams, and member-facing resources. Partner with program owners and subject matter experts to align related work, clarify pathways for adoption, and ensure best practices are connected to the appropriate organizational and member-facing channels.
- Project & Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of innovation and adoption initiatives through defined stages from discovery and planning through implementation, evaluation, transition, and spread.
- Stakeholder Engagement, Communication, & Learning: Build relationships with internal teams, leaders, member, subject matter experts, and external partners to support collaborative design, implementation, and adoption. Facilitate discovery and alignment of conversations, tailor communication and resources to diverse audiences, capture lessons learned and inform future improvements.
- 3-4 years of experience in program management, implementation, innovation, human centered design, health promotion/communication, or a related field, with demonstrated experience of moving concepts through implementation or adoption.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical, clinical, operational, or strategic information and translate it into clear, audience-centered strategies, tools, resources, or communications.
- Experience applying human-centered design, systems thinking, implementation science, improvement science, or related methodologies to understand problems and design practical solutions.
- Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and visual communication skills, with demonstrated ability to tailor complex information for different audiences, including leadership, operational teams, and external stakeholders.
- Experience gathering qualitative and quantitative feedback and using insights to refine strategies, resources, implementation approaches, or adoption efforts.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working in healthcare, public health, health IT, community health, or another complex service environment.
- Experience developing implementation toolkits, playbooks, visual frameworks, or other adoption resources.
- Experience supporting implementation, learning, or adoption across multiple audiences.
- Education or professional experience in public health, health promotion, communication, human-centered design, program/project management, implementation science, organizational development, or related field.
Candidates may be asked to provide examples of work demonstrating their ability to synthesize complex information and develop clear, audience-centered resources, strategies, presentations, toolkits, visual frameworks, or other implementation materials.
