Why This Opportunity Stands Out 100% remote position Multiple openings available Opportunity to support a large healthcare organization Long-term contract opportunity with consistent work Collaborative team environment with coding leadership support Exposure to coding quality initiatives, audits, and process improvements Opportunity to expand your Emergency Department coding expertise Key Responsibilities Review emergency department medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes Apply CPT/HCPCS procedure codes and appropriate modifiers Assign facility Evaluation and Management (E/M) levels utilizing department-specific guidelines and ACEP methodologies Analyze physician, nursing, ancillary, and diagnostic documentation to ensure complete and accurate code assignment Review injections, infusions, and procedural services for proper charge capture Apply coding guidelines, CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate coding clarification needs Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and organizational coding policies Participate in coding quality reviews, audits, and educational initiatives Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client teams to resolve coding-related issues Qualifications Active AAPC or AHIMA certification required Minimum 2+ years of Emergency Department facility coding experience Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding Injection and infusion coding experience required Ability to work independently in a remote environment EPIC experience strongly preferred Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy Top Skills Emergency Department Coding ICD-10-CM CPT Coding HCPCS Coding EPIC E/M Level Assignment Medical Record Review Revenue Cycle & Reimbursement Ideal Candidate We're looking for a certified coder who thrives in a remote environment, understands the complexities of Emergency Department coding, and takes pride in producing accurate, compliant work. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
