Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Inside Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

Role Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Inside Sales Engineer to contribute to our growing success. In this role you will generate, qualify and convert Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) sales opportunities across Australia and New Zealand — working inbound leads, cold calling, reactivating dormant and lost accounts, and turning enquiries into quotations that win.

You will handle enquiries and prepare quotations for your own accounts as well as on behalf of the field Sales Engineers, working to your own sales target. Non-standard and project enquiries you will pass to the responsible Sales Engineer with the insight they need. You will work with customers across the Industrial, Water & Wastewater (W&WW) and Food & Beverage (F&B) sectors, and provide the inside sales support the business needs to grow.

What you’ll be doing

  • You identify and pursue new opportunities across ANZ through research, networking and prospecting.
  • You cold call to reach the right contacts, qualify leads.
  • You reactivate dormant and lost accounts to bring them back into the pipeline.
  • You prepare standard product and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) quotations for your own accounts and on behalf of the Sales Engineers.
  • You follow up every quotation through to the customer’s decision, maximising conversion.
  • You select and specify standard product and MRO items for the customer’s application, escalating genuinely non-standard requirements.
  • You respond quickly and accurately on pricing, availability, lead times and order status, keeping customers informed throughout.
  • You build product and application knowledge across the Industrial, Water & Wastewater (W&WW) and Food & Beverage (F&B) sectors through structured training.
  • You identify the sector each opportunity belongs to and pass non-standard and project enquiries to the responsible Sales Engineer with the research and insight they need.
  • You cover for sales colleagues during absence, and share market, pricing and competitor feedback gathered from customer contact.
  • You keep leads, opportunities, customer interactions and quotations accurate in the customer relationship management (CRM) system, maintaining a rolling pipeline.
  • You report your activity and results — calls, appointments, quotations issued and converted — at the agreed frequency.
  • You work in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System and carry out other reasonable duties within your capability to support the sales team and the business.

Who you’ll be working with

  • Internally, you report to the Regional Sales Manager, SEA/ANZ, and work day to day with the field Sales Engineers, Operations and Marketing.
  • Externally, you are in daily contact by phone and email with customers, distributors and prospects across Australia and New Zealand, and meet them occasionally at site visits, exhibitions and training events.

Skills/Experience:

This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role

  • You communicate confidently by phone and email, and handle objections comfortably when cold calling.
  • You manage a high volume of enquiries independently and work to agreed response times and service levels.
  • You have experience in inside sales, telesales or technical customer service, ideally gained around industrial or process equipment.
  • You bring a technical or engineering background, or the curiosity to build one quickly — a degree is welcome but equivalent industry experience is equally valued.
  • You have working knowledge of pumps and MRO spare parts or can learn a technical product range quickly.
  • You are accurate with pricing, part numbers and customer data in a CRM system.
  • You are effective at lead qualification, cold calling, appointment setting, quotation preparation and follow-up.
  • You are competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and willing to adopt new sales and reporting tools as they are introduced.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English.
  • You are based in Sydney, New South Wales, and able to work on a hybrid basis from the WMFTS Australia office, with occasional travel for customer visits, exhibitions and training.
