Reporting to the Life Solutions Business Program Training Leader, the role independently executes approved instructional design, training, and configuration assignments within established standards; may make day-to-day delivery decisions; and promptly communicates and escalates changes affecting scope, solution design, commitments, timelines, deliverables, or client-impacting outcomes to the Training Leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance and learning-needs analysis; identify audiences, desired behaviors, constraints, and success measures; and recommend the appropriate learning solution.
  • Apply instructional design frameworks such as ADDIE, SAM, or agile learning design and write measurable objectives aligned to assessment and business outcomes.
  • Create design documents, detailed storyboards, scripts, prototypes, interaction specifications, assessments, and production-ready assets.
  • Develop responsive eLearning, microlearning, simulations, videos, job aids, instructor-led materials, and virtual learning using modern authoring and multimedia tools.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to gather, synthesize, validate, and simplify technical or business content while managing review and approval cycles.
  • Configure, publish, test, and maintain learning content in an LMS, including course metadata, enrollment rules, assessments, completion criteria, version control, and reporting.
  • Package and troubleshoot standards-based learning content, including SCORM and xAPI where applicable, and perform functional, editorial, accessibility, and cross-browser quality assurance.
  • Manage multiple projects from intake through deployment, maintaining schedules, documentation, risk logs, stakeholder communications, and scope of discipline.
  • Use learner feedback, assessment results, LMS data, and business-performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Core Competencies

  • Instructional design foundations: Adult learning principles, learning science, needs analysis, curriculum mapping, measurable objectives, assessment design, and evaluation.
  • Storyboarding and writing: Ability to structure content, write concise narration and on-screen text, specify interactions and media, and communicate a complete design to reviewers and developers.
  • eLearning production: Hands-on development of polished, interactive learning using rapid-authoring, screen-recording, audio, video, and basic visual-design tools.
  • LMS capability: Course setup, testing, publishing, assignment, learner support, reporting, content lifecycle management, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Consulting and collaboration: Strong discovery, facilitation, interviewing, presentation, feedback, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Project execution: Ability to prioritize concurrent work, estimate effort, meet deadlines, document decisions, and surface risks early.
  • Quality and accessibility: Consistent application of editorial standards, usability practices, inclusive design, and accessibility requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, learning technology, communications, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Two to four years of experience designing and developing workplace learning, eLearning, or blended learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated foundation in storyboarding, scriptwriting, assessment design, and translating complex material into learner-centered experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major authoring suite, such as Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate, and a learning management system.
  • Working knowledge of LMS course administration, content testing, completion tracking, and reporting.

  • Working knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, HTML5 learning products, learning analytics, and accessibility standards.
  • Experience designing scenario-based learning, software simulations, certification pathways, or customer and partner enablement.
  • Basic graphic design, audio editing, video production, and visual storytelling capabilities.
  • Experience using AI-assisted design or authoring workflows with appropriate human review for accuracy, accessibility, and instructional quality.
  • Experience in technology, financial services, insurance, healthcare, aviation, or another regulated environment.
  • Relevant professional development or certification through ATD, CPTD, instructional design, accessibility, or eLearning programs.

Performance Measures

  • Storyboards and production assets are complete, accurate, instructionally sound, and approved with minimal rework.
  • Published courses function correctly in the LMS and meet defined accessibility, compatibility, and completion-tracking requirements.
