About the business
Etude operates in insurance, commercial real estate, and industrials. Our insurance business covers more than 5,000 properties with billions of dollars in insured value. Our real estate business owns approximately $1B of commercial property alongside the Kinder Family Office. Our industrial business is developing a multibillion-dollar, 40-acre steelworks to secure the domestic supply chain for electrical infrastructure.
About the team
We are roughly a 100-person team. We hire high-agency people and give them autonomy, responsibility, and diverse problems to work on. We operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible and believe responsiveness is a form of respect. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.
We're hiring an Insurance Compliance Associate to help keep our insurance operations compliant and running smoothly in all 50 states. Reporting to our Insurance Compliance Manager, you'll be at the center of the day-to-day work that keeps us licensed, on time, and audit-ready.
About The Role
You'll be the right hand to our compliance lead. You'll own the details, keep our trackers current, and make sure filings and renewals never slip. It's a great seat for someone who wants to build a career in insurance compliance and learn surplus lines from the ground up.
To drive our mission forward, this role will:
Support surplus lines filings: Prepare, submit, and track surplus lines tax, fee, and reporting filings across states, and check them for accuracy before they go out
Track licensing: Maintain agency and producer license records, monitor renewal and continuing education deadlines, and process new appointments and terminations
Keep records clean: Organize compliance documentation, maintain filing calendars, and keep our systems audit-ready
Help with audits: Gather documents, pull data, and prepare first drafts of reports for internal audits and regulator requests
Watch for changes: Monitor state bulletins and regulatory updates and flag relevant changes to the Compliance Manager
Support the team: Answer licensing and compliance questions from Ops, Finance, GTM, and Product, and help roll out compliance trainings
Improve how we work: Spot manual or repetitive steps and suggest ways to streamline them as we scale
About You
0 to 2 years of experience in insurance, compliance, licensing, or a similar detail-heavy administrative role; P&C or surplus lines exposure is a plus
An active P&C license, or willingness to get one within your first few months
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle many deadlines at once
Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets, plus comfort learning new tools (familiarity with NIPR, SIRCON, or state SLA portals is a bonus)
Clear written communication and a habit of following through
Curiosity and coachability, with the judgment to know when to ask questions
Desire to work either a hybrid schedule from our Austin office or entirely remotely after an initial training in Austin
If you don't have all the qualifications listed, don't worry! We understand everyone's career path is unique and still encourage you to apply if you feel this role is aligned with your career trajectory.
Employment at Etude is contingent upon a satisfactory verification of a general and criminal background check.
