Developer (Integration) | C#/.NET, Azure Integration Services, D365 & XSLT
Inference Group (Embelo) | Cape Town, Western Cape | Hybrid | Permanent | Immediate Start
About the Opportunity
We're looking for a hands-on Developer (Integration) to join the growing Data and Integration team at Inference Group at Embelo in Cape Town.
You'll build and support event-driven integrations and microservices on Microsoft Azure, connecting business systems, including Dynamics 365, and keeping data flowing reliably for our UK-based clients. This is a delivery role for someone who can contribute from week one, work from clear requirements and take ownership of what they build.
You'll suit this role if you enjoy solving integration problems, write clean code and like seeing your work run in production.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and maintain integrations, microservices and APIs using C# and .NET.
- Implement event-driven solutions using messaging patterns and an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).
- Develop with Azure Integration Services: Azure Service Bus, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, API Management and Event Grid.
- Design and develop XSLT transformations and maps to convert and route data between systems.
- Build and extend Dynamics 365 integrations, including plugins and data exchange with surrounding systems.
- Build and consume REST APIs, working with JSON/XML payloads and authentication mechanisms.
- Deliver through Azure DevOps: repos, boards and CI/CD pipelines.
- Troubleshoot messaging, API and data flow issues, finding and fixing root causes.
- Write unit tests and support integration and release testing.
- Work with Solution Architects, Integration Consultants, Data Engineers and QA teams.
- Document your solutions and keep stakeholders updated on progress.
What We're Looking For
Essential experience:
- Approximately 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in software development or integration engineering.
- Strong C# and .NET development skills.
- Practical experience with event-driven architecture and messaging patterns (queues, topics, publish/subscribe, retries and dead-lettering).
- Experience building microservices or service-based solutions.
- Working XSLT skills, including mapping and transforming XML and JSON payloads.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Integration Services (Service Bus, Logic Apps, Functions, API Management).
- Dynamics 365 (D365) development exposure.
- Practical experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and system-to-system integrations.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Able to work independently from defined requirements and deliver at pace.
Nice to Have
- Azure Data Factory exposure.
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
- BizTalk or other ESB platform experience.
- SQL for data access and troubleshooting.
- Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience.
- Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-204, AZ-400, PL-400).
The Person We're Looking For
You'll be hands-on, practical and quick to get productive in a new environment.
You should be someone who:
- Takes ownership of your work and delivers with minimal supervision.
- Enjoys troubleshooting and solving practical technical problems.
- Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Adapts quickly to different client environments and ways of working.
- Cares about code quality, documentation and solutions that work in production.
- Is willing to complete client onboarding and background or security vetting, where required.
Location & Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid position based in Woodstock, Cape Town, with a minimum of three days per week in the office. Candidates willing to relocate to Cape Town are welcome to apply. Relocation costs will be the candidate's responsibility.
Education
A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field is preferred but not essential. Relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
Why Join Us?
You'll join Inference Group (Embelo), a growing data and AI consultancy working with UK-based clients on modern technology and integration projects. You'll work on a modern Azure event-driven stack, gain exposure to client delivery and grow your skills alongside an ambitious team.
