Digittal delivers enterprise-grade payment solutions that power public and private sector organizations worldwide, with a current focus on Africa. We build products designed for efficiency, scalability, and usability without compromising on security or compliance. From mass transit fare collection to electronic insurance payouts and complex payment processing, our specialized solutions are engineered to support challenging operational environments.
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to design, roll out, and support the robust, cloud-agnostic infrastructure that powers our enterprise payment solutions. As a core member of a fully remote engineering team, you will be the driving force behind our deployment pipelines, observability stack, and system resilience. Because our clients operate in diverse regulatory and geographic landscapes, you will design architectures capable of running in environments where the major "Big 3" cloud providers do not have a presence.
- Cloud-Agnostic Infrastructure: Architect, provision, and maintain secure Kubernetes clusters and infrastructure across diverse environments, including on-premise data centers, regional cloud providers, and bare-metal setups.
- Continuous Delivery & GitOps: Design and manage automated, highly reliable CI/CD pipelines utilizing Argo CD and Helm to streamline software delivery across varied infrastructure targets.
- Observability & Monitoring: Implement and maintain comprehensive observability and alerting platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus) to proactively monitor system health, performance, and uptime in high-throughput environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure to ensure reproducible, auditable, and scalable environments, regardless of the underlying hardware or host.
- Security & Reliability: Partner with security and software engineering teams to embed security best practices into the infrastructure, manage secrets, and ensure robust disaster recovery and backup strategies in decentralized environments.
- Developer Enablement: Support and optimize our proprietary agentic development environment, removing bottlenecks and ensuring developers can ship code safely and seamlessly.
Core Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong cloud-agnostic mindset with proven experience deploying and managing production-grade infrastructure outside of the big cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) ecosystems, such as bare-metal Kubernetes, local data centers, or regional cloud providers.
- Deep hands-on expertise with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and package management (Helm) in challenging operational environments.
- Strong experience implementing and maintaining GitOps workflows and continuous delivery pipelines using Argo CD (or similar modern deployment tools).
- Proficiency in setting up and managing observability, logging, and monitoring stacks (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry).
- Solid scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) and experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills, with a proven ability to thrive in a remote, cross-functional environment.
Highly Preferred:
- Previous experience in fintech, payments, or other environments requiring high availability and strict compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS).
- Experience with cluster API, bare-metal provisioning tools, or hybrid-cloud networking.
