Work From Home - McLean, VA 22012; Washington DC - Washington, DC 22102

  • Salary Range: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00 Salary/year
  • Position Type: Full Time

HumanTouch is seeking an Integration Engineer to build secure, reliable data and file exchanges between Government customers’ systems and enterprise applications in cloud environments. You will develop reusable connectors, services, and integration applications that acquire, transform, validate, and deliver data for customer solutions.

You will own integration behavior and reliability, including secure coding, testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting. Working within an Agile delivery team, you will coordinate with application developers, analysts, and customer technical and security teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop reusable connectors, integration services, and automation using APIs, approved interfaces, and appropriate programming tools.
  • Build and maintain automated file transfers and synchronization between systems. Handle access permissions, duplicate or changed files, interrupted transfers, and recovery.
  • Turn source-system information and application requirements into documented data mappings, transformation rules, validation checks, and interface behavior.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization, protected credential handling, input validation, appropriate encryption, and access limited to what each integration requires.
  • Work with customer technical teams and security specialists to understand Government connection, data-handling, environment, and approval requirements. Document constraints and implement agreed controls.
  • Build processing that handles retries, duplicate records, partial failures, unavailable systems, and interface changes without silently losing or corrupting data.
  • Develop and execute repeatable unit tests for integration components and application tests for integration tools. Test interfaces and complete data and file exchanges, including data reconciliation, failure recovery, and regression scenarios.
  • Validate that integrations remain reliable with expected data volumes and customer operating conditions.
  • Use code reviews and appropriate security checks to identify and resolve defects and vulnerabilities before deployment.
  • Coordinate with application developers and analysts on interface changes and acceptance criteria. Support acceptance testing of data exchanges and their effects on customer applications.
  • Build and maintain automated build, test, security-check, and deployment pipelines for integration software within approved delivery environments.
  • Promote integration changes through development, test, and production environments. Manage environment-specific configuration securely and maintain release validation and rollback procedures.
  • Maintain operational logs and monitoring to identify integration failures and data discrepancies.
  • Troubleshoot production integrations, diagnose and resolve defects, and verify corrections through testing. Communicate downstream effects to the team.
  • Maintain version-controlled code and documentation of interfaces, deployment, and support procedures.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools, reviewing generated code for security, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards. Test code against requirements and verify other outputs against supporting evidence.
  • Participate in Agile planning, demonstrations, and peer reviews.
  • Additional responsibilities include supporting growth and proposal efforts, as well as expanding business within your assigned portfolio.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of relevant software development or integration engineering experience, including production integrations.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used to develop and maintain integration software.
  • Experience building API-based integrations, including authentication, data mapping, transformation, and error handling.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting integrations in cloud environments, including cloud storage, identity and access controls, and secure connectivity.
  • Experience applying secure coding and software quality practices to production software.
  • Experience developing and executing unit, application, integration, and regression tests, including invalid inputs and failure scenarios.
  • Ability to verify data completeness, accuracy, and consistency across systems and investigate discrepancies.
  • Working knowledge of Government security and integration requirements, with the ability to implement applicable customer controls and collaborate with security specialists.
  • Hands-on experience applying DevSecOps practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, security checks, and continuous integration and delivery.
  • Experience deploying and supporting integration software across development, test, and production environments, including secure configuration, release validation, monitoring, and rollback.
  • Experience troubleshooting production integrations, diagnosing bugs, and resolving defects.
  • Practical proficiency with AI-assisted development and prompt engineering, including reviewing generated code for security, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards, and testing it against requirements.
  • Experience working in an Agile team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Federal consulting or delivering integrations in Government environments.
  • Experience developing reusable connectors, file-transfer services, or synchronization tools used across multiple projects.
