Position: Interconnection & Permitting Specialist Working Hours: 9 hours, from 4 PM till 1 AM Beirut Time - Remote Salary Range: 2,500 - 3,000 USD/per month Company Overview The company is a residential solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner that designs, sells, installs, and services solar and energy storage systems for homeowners. It manages the entire project lifecycle—from sales and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and permission to operate (PTO)—and supports systems long after energization with dedicated service and maintenance across Connecticut. Flexible financing options, including cash, loan, and lease/PPA, make clean energy accessible while upholding high standards for quality, safety, and compliance. You'll join a collaborative, detail-driven team that values ownership, transparency, and doing right by customers. The culture emphasizes craftsmanship in the field, accuracy in the back office, and a commitment to delivering a smooth, reliable experience from contract to PTO. Mission As an Interconnection & Permitting Specialist, you'll be the linchpin connecting engineering, utilities, AHJs, and the field. Your day-to-day includes reviewing plan sets, preparing and submitting interconnection applications, filing building and electrical permits, and tracking every milestone through to PTO. You'll manage utility and AHJ portals, respond to RFIs, coordinate revisions with engineering and project management, schedule inspections, and keep clean, up-to-date records that keep projects moving. We're looking for a detail-obsessed professional with strong utility interconnection knowledge, persistence, and excellent follow-through—ideally with experience submitting applications in Connecticut. If you enjoy process, precision, problem-solving, and cross-functional teamwork—you'll feel right at home. Key Responsibilities Your daily tasks will vary, giving you room to learn, grow, and strengthen your skills while supporting the team with excellence. You'll own the flow of information between design, utilities, AHJs, and operations to keep projects on schedule through PTO. Review solar and storage designs alongside utility requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to submission Prepare and submit residential utility interconnection (IC) applications Prepare and submit building and electrical permit applications to local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) Manage utility and AHJ online portals; upload documents, complete forms, and maintain organized records Verify applications contain accurate system specifications, electrical details, equipment data, and customer information Track application statuses, milestones, and utility/AHJ deadlines; proactively follow up to avoid delays Respond to utility/AHJ questions, corrections, and requests for additional information (RFIs) Coordinate revisions and resubmittals between engineering/design, project management, and utility/AHJ contacts Track utility approvals and conditions of interconnection; communicate requirements to stakeholders Coordinate required inspections and utility prerequisites leading to meter swap and PTO Manage the project path through Permission to Operate (PTO), confirming final approvals and documentation Maintain an up-to-date database/report of interconnection and permitting status for every project Identify issues that could delay construction or PTO (e.g., service upgrades, transformer constraints) and escalate promptly Collaborate with procurement and scheduling so permits and IC approvals align with build schedules Stay current on local codes, utility tariffs, and program requirements, with emphasis on Connecticut Qualifications Years of Experience: 2+ years in residential solar interconnection and/or permitting CRM Tool: Not required Softwares: Utility interconnection portals; AHJ permitting portals; spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets); PDF editors/markup tools; familiarity reviewing electrical plan sets Industry Knowledge Required: Residential solar EPC operations, utility IC processes, building/electrical permitting with AHJs, NEC/utility standards; Connecticut experience preferred Specific Gender: No preference Skills & Competencies Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy Clear, proactive written and verbal communication with utilities, AHJs, engineers, PMs, and homeowners Persistence, ownership, and follow-through to drive applications to approval Ability to read and interpret plan sets, single-line diagrams, site plans, and equipment specs Strong time management to juggle multiple projects and deadlines Problem-solving and sound escalation judgment Organization and record-keeping with reliable status reporting Team-oriented mindset with a customer-first approach Technical Requirements Own PC or laptop Reliable internet connection (wired connection recommended) Noise-cancelling headset and a quiet, professional workspace Ability to access and use utility/AHJ online portals and electronic document tools Phone or VOIP capability to contact utilities and AHJs as needed Position Description Working Hours: 9 hours, from 4 PM till 1 AM Beirut Time Working Days: 5 days a week Days Off: Saturday and Sunday Work Location: Fully-remote, you can work from anywhere PTO (Paid Time Off): You may request time off anytime with advanced notice Salary Range: 2,500 - 3,000 USD/per month
