Overview: Major, Lindsey & Africa is seeking a Temp to Perm Debt Finance Counsel to assist a Boutique Law Firm. Company: A Small Boutique Law Firm. Experience: At least 5-10 Years of experience as a Paralegal at a law firm or in-house corporation with a focus in Financial Services. Location: NYC Hybrid Ideal (open to remote) Responsibilities Include: Transaction Execution & Client Leadership Lead and independently execute secured lending and private credit transactions Advise lenders, funds, family offices, and development finance institutions on debt structures and documentation Draft and negotiate credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, and related financing documentation Support DFI-related debt work Translate traditional secured lending frameworks into non-standard, impact-oriented deal structures Practice Building & Strategic Contribution Help shape the structure, service offering, and growth strategy of the debt practice Identify opportunities to expand debt capabilities across fund finance, direct lending, and structured credit Collaborate closely with the firm’s funds and corporate practice teams Contribute to thought leadership, client development, and market positioning (as appropriate for seniority level) Internal Collaboration Work alongside existing debt leadership while expanding independent deal coverage Support capacity across existing client relationships while helping build new ones Help define scalable debt workflows and precedents Qualifications and Skills: J.D. and admission to at least one U.S. state bar (NY preferred) Typically 10+ years of experience in debt finance at a large or mid-sized law firm Consistent firm stability in prior roles, 4 years minimum at each prior firm Strong training in one or more of the following: Secured lending Asset-based lending Corporate / sponsor-backed lending Private credit r direct lending Demonstrated ability to: Run transactions with limited supervision Operate in non-form, highly bespoke transaction environments Communicate directly with sophisticated financial counterparties Information regarding benefits can be found on MLA’s Website on the Consultant Resources Page: https://www.mlaglobal.com/en/consultant-resources All interested and qualified candidates should apply directly with Major, Lindsey & Africa for review and consideration.
