Organization: New York Immigration Coalition Job Title: Interim Senior Program Manager, NYC Community Interpreter Bank Department: Programs & Membership Team: Community Programming Reports to: Director of Community Programming Direct Reports: Two Program Associates Employment Status: Temporary, Full Time/Exempt (40 hours/week), through December 31, 2026 with the possibility of extending Location: New York City. 4 days in the office/1 day remote Annual salary: $81,000 Overview of the Organization The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State. Position Overview This position will lead the NYC Community Interpreter Bank (CIB), a community program which the NYIC has undertaken to enhance language access and increase the supply of trained, vetted interpreters to serve Limited English Proficiency (LEP) New Yorkers. The Program Manager will oversee the implementation and administration of the NYC CIB, developing the project’s goals and priorities under the guidance of the NYIC’s Director of Community Programming. This role requires a strong project manager with a passion for language justice and community service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: In collaboration with the Director of Community Programming, develop and implement a strategic plan for the NYC CIB with clear and achievable goals, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission goals. Oversee the daily operations of the NYC CIB, including the recruitment, training, dispatch, and supervision of interpreters. Manage two Program Associates to support the daily operations of the program including the CIB training program, dispatch system, databases and other systems needed for the program to function smoothly. Collaborate with partner organizations, government agencies, and community groups to identify and address language access needs. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to improve service delivery. Monitor the CIB's project budget with support from the Finance department. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws concerning language access, regulations, and standards for interpreter services. Work with the Development Team to prepare quarterly reports on program performance. Work with the Membership and Capacity Building team to design and deliver educational components that support member engagement on a region, or local level. Establish and maintain relations with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Represent the NYC Community Interpreter Bank at public events, meetings, and conferences. Supervise. develop, and manage the performance of the two Program Associates, setting clear expectations, building on each team member's strengths, and holding their work to consistent standard. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Occasionally moves or carries materials weighing 50 pounds or less. Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based setting. Proven experience in managing interpreter services or similar programs. Excellent project management, organizational, and communications skills. Strong knowledge of language access laws, policies, and issues, and advocacy for language justice is required. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and stakeholders with excellent cultural competency. Proficiency with Salesforce, Google Workspace, Asana, or other project management and CRM software. Proficiency in multiple language is a plus. Advocate for the CIB's resources needs, track where program demand exceeds capacity, bring that to the Development team and to NYIC leadership, and supply the program narrative, outcomes data, and partner context that proposals and funder reports draw on.
