Intermediate Developer (Hybrid - Edmonton)

We are seeking an Application Analyst Intermediate to support a public sector energy and minerals regulatory program. This role focuses on requirements gathering, programming, and system analysis for application development and enhancement projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with application development and maintenance teams, collaborate with subject matter experts in business areas, and ensure that code functions according to specification through rigorous testing and remediation.

This position requires someone who can deliver applications programming and analysis tasks within a system development process to support a regulatory program implementation. The role involves writing code for complex functional and technical designs, defining non-functional requirements, assessing technical impacts, and producing technical design and database structures for average to high complexity applications. The analyst will liaise with business units to ensure solutions meet current and strategic needs, align development teams to follow application architecture, review technical designs from other developers, assist with performance and penetration testing, isolate root causes of issues, and contribute to application lifecycle planning and release scheduling.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline with 4+ years of related experience, OR 2-year diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline with 6+ years of related experience, OR 1-year certificate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline with 7+ years of related experience, OR current active professional certification or accreditation in related discipline from a recognized issuing body with 7+ years of related experience
• 5+ years - Application Developer experience in a large enterprise IT environment utilizing .NET, Microsoft Visual Studio, and source control tools
• 5+ years - software development across the full software development lifecycle
• 5+ years - MS SQL Server, Management Studio, stored procedures, data modelling, and reporting services
• 5+ years - hands-on experience using C# and Visual Studio
• 5+ years - working with end-users to confirm requirements, support testing, and maintain documentation

Nice to Have

• 3+ years - analysis, development, and integration of complex IT systems with focus on management of multiple data sources, web services, and legacy IT solutions
