About Cyber Legends
Cyber Legends builds game-based learning for Grades 1–12, teaching cyber safety, digital citizenship, and AI literacy with curriculum-aligned teacher resources. Schools across Canada and the US use our platform.
The Opportunity
We're hiring our first dedicated DevOps Engineer.
You'll work with our CTO and engineering team to improve AWS infrastructure, releases and reliability while supporting data-residency requirements and our work toward SOC 2 Type 2.
This is a broad role at a small company, covering platform engineering, internal IT, release operations and compliance support.
What You'll Own
* Operate and improve AWS infrastructure across accounts and regions, including multi-AZ and multi-region networking and workloads on ECS and Lambda
* Infrastructure as code with AWS CDK
* Strengthen Canadian and US data-residency controls, backups, and recovery testing
* Manage cloud infrastructure costs and cost monitoring
* Maintain CICD pipelines, automated quality gates and safe database migrations, with clear production approvals, health checks and rollbacks
* Coordinate web and game-client releases, including builds, code signing and app-store submissions
* Improve CloudWatch monitoring, logging and alerting; manage incidents, runbooks and post mortem follow-ups
* Manage access controls, secrets management and vulnerability scanning; support SOC 2 Type 2 evidence and customer security reviews.
* Own developer environments, onboarding and offboarding, company devices and SaaS administration; help troubleshoot production issues
* Maintain operational documentation, triage security reports, and support safe access to reporting data
What We're Looking For
* 3–5 years in DevOps, SRE, platform or infrastructure engineering, supporting production systems
* Hands-on AWS experience with networking, IAM, ECS, RDS and S3
* Production infrastructure-as-code experience
* Experience building CI/CD pipelines and delivering safe, low/no downtime releases
* Comfort with Linux, Docker and Git
* Practical monitoring, troubleshooting and incident-response experience, with strong security fundamentals
* Clear written communication, sound judgment and the ability to prioritize independently
* Legally eligible to work in Canada
Nice to Have
* SOC 2, data-residency, multi-region hosting or EdTech experience
* Familiarity with Django, React, Postgres or Keycloak
* Mobile release pipelines and app-store operations
The Details
* Type: Full-time employee
* Location: Remote, within Canada. Overlap with Eastern Time expected
* Reports to: CTO
* Compensation: Competitive salary, discussed early in the process
* On-call: Yes
How to Apply
Apply through LinkedIn and include:
1. A short note on a system you built or inherited: what you changed and what improved.
2. The infrastructure, CI/CD and monitoring tools you've run in production, and for how long.
3. Your availability and salary expectation.
If your background is strong but unusual, tell us why it fits, we would rather hear it from you than guess.
