Job Description

The Low Voltage Motor Control Center (LVMCC) Application Engineering Intern assists in custom motor control center (MCC) solutions for customer in a wide range of industries. You will be responsible for managing their own projects at once with varying milestones. You will be collaborating with Sales, Commercial Engineering, Development Engineering, Manufacturing, and Tech Support to listen to our customers, understand their application, and combine our technical and domain knowledge to solve problems and simplify our customer's experience. This includes completing sales orders and electrical and mechanical design, as well as the providing the bill of material (BOM) for manufacturing.


You will report to the Senior Application Engineering Lead, and have a hybrid schedule working in Milwaukee, WI (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in-person at the Milwaukee Headquarters location)


Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist on any productivity or tools enhancement projects
  • Review and understand customer specifications and drawings.
  • Interface with the customer on technical and commercial aspects of the order.
  • Resolve and document exceptions and questions.
  • Develop a knowledge of Rockwell products and be able to speak to the benefits of them in certain applications.
  • Create and/or modify electrical schematics.
  • Create and/or modify mechanical models of electrical component assembly.
  • Provide final factory build documents including Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to provide build instructions and resolve technical issues.
  • Support manufacturing for issues encountered during build process.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Pursuing a mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or similar degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must be enrolled for at least one more semester of school after the internship concludes (graduation date of December 2027 or later)
  • Local or attending school in the greater Milwaukee area (within 50 miles from the Headquarter location)
  • Potential to stay on part-time throughout the school year (in-person)
  • Enjoy researching different ways to make our customers lives easier.
  • Desire to see the impact of the decisions you make and addressing potential roadblocks.
  • Desire to work or comfort with working in a customer-facing role
  • Experience with PLCs, CAD, schematic design, Ladder Logic, SolidWorks, and Studio 5000
  • Experience communicating engineering support, updates, and resolutions to customers and other partners.
  • Enjoy learning new processes and products and are willing to extend beyond your job scope to help issues get resolved.
  • Are willing to learn both electrical and mechanical disciplines to provide a complete solution for our customers.)

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.



For this role, the hourly compensation is from $22-$32.Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
