We're looking for an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our Compliance, Risk & Internal Audit team and lead our risk-based audit programme, manage a high-performing team and provide insight and challenge to help strengthen controls and manage risk across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced audit professional who enjoys working with people as well as processes and controls. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team and Audit, Risk & Assurance Committee, and have a real opportunity to influence how we manage risk and assurance.
What you'll be doing
As an Internal Audit Manager, you'll lead the development and delivery of our annual risk-based audit and testing plan, manage the Internal Audit team and oversee the quality and timely delivery of audits. You'll also lead your own audits, from planning and fieldwork through to reporting and follow-up.
You'll also:
Lead development of the annual Internal Audit plan, working with senior stakeholders to identify key risks.
Manage, support and develop the Internal Audit team.
Plan and deliver risk-based audit assignments in line with IIA standards.
Facilitate audit workshops and exit meetings, encouraging constructive challenge and ownership.
Produce clear audit reports for stakeholders, the Executive Leadership Team and Audit, Risk & Assurance Committee.
Identify and escalate significant risks, control weaknesses and findings.
Follow up on agreed actions and ensure recommendations are implemented.
Support the Head of Compliance, Risk & Internal Audit with wider departmental leadership.
Lead continuous improvement across Internal Audit processes.
What we're looking for
You'll be an experienced internal audit professional with strong management experience, technical knowledge, excellent judgement and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Essential experience
A university degree and professional accounting or auditing qualification, such as ACCA or MIIA.
Significant post-qualification internal audit experience at supervisory or management level.
Strong knowledge of risk management and risk-based auditing within an internal control framework.
Experience managing and developing a high-performing audit team.
Experience delivering audits from planning and fieldwork through to reporting and follow-up.
Experience facilitating workshops and engaging stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
The confidence and resilience to challenge constructively and stand behind your professional judgement.
Strong organisation and time management skills.
Good IT skills, including Word and Excel.
Desirable experience
Experience using data analytics within Internal Audit.
Experience working in a regulated environment.
Experience presenting to senior leadership or Audit Committees.
