Job Title: Internal Auditor
Employment type: Permanent, hybrid (1-2 days a week in our Manchester office)
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

AccessPay is a Manchester-based fintech, founded in 2012, that helps finance and treasury teams automate their payments and cash management. Our cloud platform connects businesses’ finance systems directly to their banks, so they can send payments securely and keep track of their cash. Because our customers trust us with their money, strong governance, security and compliance are central to how we work.

Trust is central to everything we do, and independent assurance is how we prove it. As our Internal Auditor, you will deliver AccessPay’s internal audit schedule and support the external audits carried out by our assessment bodies, helping us keep our industry certifications and test that our controls work in practice.

You will sit within our GSI team, working closely with the Head of Governance and Risk and alongside colleagues in Compliance, Assurance, Internal IT and Cyber Security. It is a hands-on role with plenty of exposure to different parts of the business, and a real opportunity for an experienced auditor to take the initiative, shape how we audit and tackle new challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, scope and carry out internal audits in line with the annual audit schedule, including thematic and targeted reviews.
  • Identify findings and get to the root cause, then write clear, high-impact audit reports with practical recommendations and executive summaries.
  • Track remediation of audit issues and follow up to confirm that actions have been completed properly.
  • Co-ordinate cross-functional audits, working with a variety of teams including Technology, HR, Cyber Security and Internal IT.
  • Support external audits and assessments, and work with internal and external stakeholders so that AccessPay maintains its industry certifications.
  • Help ensure we comply with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Help manage the employee screening process, raising any issues with senior management and recruiting managers promptly.
  • Support our mandatory training processes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have:
  • Practical experience in auditing, including planning and conducting audits, and reporting on findings.
  • A highly motivated, self-starting approach, with the ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and take ownership of deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • A willingness to embrace challenges and the confidence to question established ways of working.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different business functions, and to communicate findings clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle more than one audit or task at a time.
  • An appreciation of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud computing and cyber security.
It would be great if you also have:
  • Knowledge of DORA (the Digital Operational Resilience Act) and how it applies to our business.
  • Practical experience of applying AI in audit, risk or compliance work, for example to speed up testing, analysis or reporting.
  • Familiarity with other compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, BACS, SWIFT, GDPR, SOC 2, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to apply your audit experience in a fintech business where governance, security and compliance are central to how we work. You’ll work across a broad range of teams and frameworks, with room to take the initiative and help shape our approach.

Alongside a supportive, collaborative team, we offer:
  • 25 days’ holiday plus public holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Your birthday off, two paid volunteering days and a holiday purchase scheme.
  • Salary Exchange pension, with auto-enrolment from day one.
  • £240 annual wellbeing allowance and a health cash plan.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Free breakfast and lunch in our Manchester office, plus discounted parking.
  • Internal and external training opportunities.
  • A dog-friendly office.
If you’re looking for a role where you can take ownership, broaden your experience and make a practical difference across the business, we’d like to hear from you.

If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.
