About The Role:
We are looking for an Internal Controls & Risk Manager to develop and own Emma's Internal Control System and Risk Management Framework. You will be responsible for designing controls that protect the quality of our financial and operational processes, so Emma can keep scaling globally with confidence and speed.
You’ll report to the Global Director of Accounting and work closely with Finance Leadership and the teams that own our key processes, ranging from Accounting and Tax to Legal.
What You'll Do:
Lead and own Emma’s Internal Control System, including control documentation, risk and control matrices and policies, building a framework that is still developing in a global company.
Plan and execute testing of key controls, assessing design and operating effectiveness, and drive root cause analysis and remediation plans with control owners.
Continuously improve control processes, using data analytics and automation to make controls more efficient, scalable and easier for the business to run.
Start implementing Emma’s Risk Management Framework, identifying emerging financial and operational risks and shaping how risk is managed across a global business.
Deliver on KPIs such as the share of controls performed, their quality and effectiveness, and control coverage across processes, with regular reporting to senior leadership.
Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal and Supply Chain to embed controls into daily work, without slowing the business down.
Work closely with internal and external auditors, coordinating their requests and turning their recommendations into concrete actions.
Develop training and guidance that builds a culture of control ownership and accountability across teams and stakeholders.
Who We're Looking For:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Law or Business Administration, with a solid understanding of how businesses manage financial and operational risk.
You bring 6+ years of experience in Internal Controls, Audit, Compliance and/or Risk Management, including at least two years owning a scope within one of these areas.
You have hands-on expertise in Internal Controls, Internal Audit and Compliance, from control design and testing to documentation, applied to real business processes.
Experience in Risk Management is a plus, along with a pragmatic approach to building frameworks that fit the size and pace of a growing global company.
You are proactive and comfortable with ambiguity, taking ownership and building structure from scratch instead of waiting for direction or a clear blueprint - you'll be the expert, we want you to drive this scope and not just execute.
You are collaborative and bring stakeholders along, including those who naturally resist more control, by showing the value and keeping controls practical.
You’re fluent in English.
What We Offer:
The opportunity to create real impact, take ownership and accountability, and drive meaningful change.
Continuous learning and development through hands-on experience, mentoring, formal training, and access to tools such as our Learning Hub and Nilo.
A collaborative community of smart, driven people where you learn, contribute, and connect, every day and through team events.
A global environment, working daily with diverse perspectives across 4 offices and 70+ nationalities.
25 vacation days per year, with 1 extra day per year worked (until a limit of 30 days per year).
A flexible hybrid setup with up to 22 remote days per quarter, and offices in Gutleutviertel - Frankfurt.
