Internship – Learning & People Development
"I’m involved in a wide range of people topics, have ownership of my own work, and get to collaborate with colleagues across HEINEKEN. No two days are the same."
The internship
Are you curious about how an international organisation helps people, leaders and teams grow? During this practice-oriented internship in Learning & People Development, you will contribute to learning, leadership, onboarding, team development and employee experience initiatives at HEINEKEN Head Office. You will combine coordination, communication and creative problem-solving, while learning how a People function supports a business in transformation.
As our Learning & People Development intern, you will:
- Support learning and leadership initiatives, from planning and participant communication to evaluation and follow-up.
- Help employees find their way through our learning offer and respond to practical questions about programmes and development opportunities.
- Contribute to onboarding activities so new colleagues get a strong and welcoming start at HEINEKEN.
- Create clear and engaging communications and activation campaigns for learning programmes, team development and People initiatives.
- Support projects and events related to team development, diversity, equity & inclusion, health and wellbeing, and employability.
- Coordinate several activities at the same time, keep stakeholders informed and identify practical ways to improve how we work.
You will work closely with colleagues in Learning & People Development and with People Business Partners, People Operations, Talent Acquisition and other teams across HEINEKEN. There is room to shape parts of the internship around your interests and learning goals.
Your new team and workplace
You will join the Learning & People Development team at HEINEKEN Head Office in the centre of Amsterdam. We help employees, leaders and teams build the capabilities they need today and for the future. Our work ranges from professional and leadership skills to onboarding, team development, people insights, employability and broader employee experience topics.
We are a small, collaborative team working with many colleagues across Head Office and other HEINEKEN entities. That gives you close guidance as well as broad exposure to the organisation. You will join together with another intern, have regular check-ins with your supervisor and be encouraged to bring your own ideas, ask questions and take ownership.
During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. We trust and empower you to work with an entrepreneurial mindset. At HEINEKEN, we love bringing the outside world in and welcome fresh, new ideas with open arms. Of course, we’ll make sure you get the guidance that suits you.
What a day in the internship could look like
You start the day at our Amsterdam office with a short team check-in to align on priorities. In the morning, you prepare communications for an upcoming learning programme and answer questions from employees about the development offer. You then meet a People Business Partner to coordinate an onboarding or team development activity.
After lunch with colleagues or other interns, you update a project plan, analyse feedback from a recent session and turn the insights into a practical improvement proposal. Later, you help prepare an event or workshop and connect with colleagues from another HEINEKEN team. Some days are focused on coordination and communication; others give you more space to create, analyse or work on your own project. Alongside your day-to-day work, there are intern events and opportunities to build your network.
The unique you!
We believe everyone has unique talents, which is why we’re looking for you! Energy, drive and the ambition to grow are what make the difference at HEINEKEN. In addition, you bring:
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme, for example in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, Educational Sciences, Organisational Development, Communication or Business Administration.
- You are curious about learning, people development and how organisations and teams work.
- You communicate clearly in English, enjoy working with different stakeholders and feel comfortable asking questions.
- You are organised and proactive, and can keep an overview when working on several activities or projects.
- You enjoy turning ideas into practical actions. Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, communications, events or project coordination is a plus, not a requirement.
Even if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply. An internship is the perfect opportunity to learn and grow!
