About the role
Join Sydney Water's Investment Assurance team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of our $3 billion capital investment portfolio. You'll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of projects and programs, helping ensure investments are strategically aligned, thoroughly assessed and set up for successful delivery. As the Investment Assurance Manager, you will lead the Investment Assurance team and be responsible for providing commercial advice and assurance to Sydney Water's Executive Leadership Team through the review and assessment of business cases and investment proposals. About You
You are a strategic and commercially astute leader with extensive experience in investment assurance, business case evaluation, and capital portfolio governance. You have a proven ability to provide trusted advice to senior executives, influence complex investment decisions, and ensure projects are positioned to deliver maximum value. With strong stakeholder management skills and experience leading high performing teams, you bring a collaborative approach, sound commercial judgement, and a passion for driving successful outcomes across large-scale infrastructure, transformation, and digital investment programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic commercial advice and assurance to support informed investment decision-making across Sydney Water's portfolio.
- Ensure programs and projects are positioned for success through robust investment appraisal, assurance and governance processes.
- Lead the review and assessment of business cases, providing clear recommendations and insights to senior leaders and decision-makers.
- Oversee and facilitate gateway reviews to support the effective delivery of major projects and programs.
- Build strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to influence outcomes and drive value.
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of specialist Investment Analysts.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in investment appraisal and assurance, including the development, review and evaluation of complex business cases.
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure NSW Gateway Assurance processes and governance frameworks.
- Proven strategic thinking capabilities, supported by sound commercial judgement and decision-making skills.
- Experience engaging, influencing and building trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Expertise in Project, Program and Portfolio Management, particularly within capital investment and expenditure environments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the confidence to challenge and advise at executive level.
- A track record of leading, coaching and developing high-performing specialist teams to achieve strategic outcomes.
