General Overview
The Investment Performance Analyst (Analyst) is responsible for delivering accurate, insightful, and timely performance measurement and attribution, across a diversified, multi‑asset portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of investment analytics, data integrity, client reporting, and investment decision support.
The Analyst partners closely with investment operations, fund management, portfolio management, and external service providers to ensure the firm’s performance and attribution system data is accurate, timely, reliable and well‑understood, and actionable. The role requires the ability to work with large data sets, expertise in performance measurement and reporting, and technical system expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management & Reporting Infrastructure
- Oversee the extraction, transformation, reconciliation, and validation of investment performance data across internal systems and external providers.
- Partner with operations, investment management, and external partners to resolve data integrity issues to ensure timely and accurate performance measurement.
- Maintain and enhance performance and attribution reporting.
- Utilize investment manager statements, portfolio reports, and other available data sources to improve transparency into underlying portfolio exposures for performance and risk reviews.
- Serve as internal subject‑matter expert for performance methodologies, measurement, and analytics and the firm’s related investment measurement and management system.
Investment Performance & Attribution
- Calculate portfolio returns (time-weighted, IRR) and validate performance data.
- Perform detailed reviews of investment performance inputs and reports (monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc) across public and private asset classes at both the fund and client level to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Partner with investment operations, fund management, and portfolio management to research questions and resolve performance discrepancies.
- Generate reports including performance summaries and commentary.
- Conduct performance attribution and peer or benchmark comparisons to identify performance drivers and sources of relative performance.
- Develop a repeatable framework for performance review conclusions and commentary.
- Design, document, and maintain performance-review controls, including automated and exception-based monitoring.
Collaboration & Communication
- Translate performance analyses into clear, concise insights for non‑technical audiences.
- Contribute to special projects, governance initiatives, and continuous improvement of investment analytics and reporting practices.
- Support client service initiatives including presentation preparation.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field required.
- Professional certifications such as CIPM, CFA, CAIA or similar strongly preferred.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) a plus.
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of experience in investment performance, portfolio analytics, or a related role required.
- Experience working with multi‑asset portfolios, including public markets and alternative investments, is highly desirable.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with one or more investment performance and reporting systems such as Addepar, Aladdin, MSCI Total Plan, Clearwater Analytics, or Eton Atlas.
- Advanced Excel; experience with systems (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet)
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, financial modeling, and risk measurement concepts.

- Ability to clearly communicate complex investment concepts to diverse audiences.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and comfortable working across teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Working Conditions
The physical working conditions of this position include an office environment where sitting and working on a computer for extended periods of time are common.
Hybrid Work Environment
We operate a hybrid work environment. Employees are required to be in the office Wednesdays and a minimum of two other days per week, for a total of three days in office and two days remote. During the first 30 days of employment, in-office work is expected to ensure effective onboarding, collaboration, and relationship building. This work arrangement is subject to change at the discretion of Waycrosse.
