Founded in 1988, Morrison is a leading global infrastructure manager, investing across the risk spectrum in both private and listed markets. Our purpose is to invest wisely in ideas that matter. We believe the best investments serve an enduring societal need and have a firm commitment to sustainability.
If you’re passionate about investment markets, performance analytics and using technology to turn complex data into meaningful insight, this is an opportunity to join our Listed Markets team in London.
As the Investment Performance and Data Analyst, you will play an important role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful performance, attribution and investment reporting across our listed market portfolios. You’ll work closely with portfolio managers and investment teams, while also helping operate and develop GATE, our in-house investment research and reporting platform.
About the Job
- Prepare, review and explain portfolio performance, attribution and benchmark-relative outcomes across investment strategies, products and mandates.
- Maintain and enhance performance measurement processes, including return calculations, attribution models, benchmark mapping and reporting controls.
- Investigate performance anomalies, data quality issues and reconciliation breaks, working across investment, operations, distribution and data providers to resolve issues.
- Support monthly, quarterly and ad hoc investment reporting for portfolio managers, boards, clients, consultants, platforms and distribution teams.
- Operate and develop GATE, including its automated data and reporting processes, data connectors, dashboards and reporting templates.
- Review AI-assisted analysis and reporting for accuracy and help improve the quality of its outputs.
- Use Python and SQL to maintain, test and enhance investment data and reporting processes.
- Contribute to investment governance, performance reviews, committee papers, due diligence and regulatory or compliance reporting.
- Help improve and automate processes while maintaining strong controls, documentation and audit trails.
About You
You’re analytically strong, highly detail-oriented and genuinely interested in understanding what drives investment performance. You’re equally comfortable working with investment concepts and getting into the underlying data and technology.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, economics, accounting, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, computer science or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in investment performance, attribution, investment reporting, investment data or a related investment management role.
- A sound understanding of investment markets, benchmarks, portfolio construction, performance measurement and attribution.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL, including the ability to read, test and maintain code.
- Advanced Excel capability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in automation, data quality and building scalable reporting processes.
- The ability to translate complex technical analysis into clear, practical insights for investment, governance and client-facing stakeholders.
- Experience with tools such as FactSet PA, Git, APIs, performance systems or market data platforms would be advantageous.
- CFA, CIPM, CA, CPA, FRM or a postgraduate finance qualification would also be highly regarded.
This role requires presence and availability during trading hours. We recognise the importance of flexibility and will consider arrangements such as adjusted start and finish times and hybrid working, subject to business needs and the requirements of the role.
Why Morrison?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to sit at the intersection of investments, data and technology. Rather than simply producing performance reports, you’ll have the opportunity to understand what is driving investment outcomes, work closely with portfolio managers and contribute to the continued development of the technology and processes behind our investment decision-making.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to combine investment knowledge, analytical thinking and technology in a role with genuine exposure to the investment process, we’d love to hear from you.
Morrison is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. Please let us know if you require any support or adjustments during the recruitment process.
Morrison works with selected recruitment partners under formal agreements. We do not accept unsolicited resumes, and any such submissions will not be considered or give rise to any fee.
