Irish Branch Manager/Risk & Compliance Manager

Must have general insurance experience.

Location: Ireland –Must be resident in Ireland. Flexible working, with attendance at the Dublin branch office as required.

Are you an experienced insurance compliance professional ready for your first PCF role? This is a rare chance to take that step with the backing of an established UK insurer, while staying hands-on in the compliance work you enjoy.

Our client is a respected UK insurance business with a branch in Ireland. They are looking for a pragmatic compliance professional to manage the branch and be its key contact with the Central Bank of Ireland. You will also be a valued member of the UK Risk & Compliance team.

The role

This is a genuinely blended position.

Irish Branch Manager – around 2 days a week

You will be the CBI-approved PCF 41 holder, responsible for the oversight, governance and regulatory relationship of the Irish branch. You will:

• Chair the Irish Branch Committee

• Act as first point of contact for the Central Bank of Ireland

• Review and sign off regulatory returns

• Oversee outsourced and head office support services

• Report on branch activity to the Executive Team and Board

You will be fully supported by UK head office functions, so this is not a one-person operation.

Compliance Manager (UK) – around 3 days a week

You will work alongside the UK Head of Compliance, helping deliver the group's risk and compliance monitoring plan. This includes:

• Compliance monitoring reviews

• Conduct and customer outcomes work

• Regulatory change

• General compliance support to the business

It is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves contribution to an established team.

About you

• Based in Ireland

• Experience at a CBI-regulated insurer, or of working closely with the CBI

• Management experience within a regulated insurance business

• Thorough knowledge of the CBI framework for insurance undertakings, including the Individual Accountability Framework

• Working knowledge of the UK regulatory environment (FCA/PRA), or a strong appetite to build it

• Experience of compliance monitoring, risk reviews or audit

• Confident of obtaining CBI approval. Previous PCF experience is welcome but not required, this is an ideal step up for a strong Compliance Manager

• Organised, works well to deadlines and is comfortable working at a distance from colleagues

• Collaborative, pragmatic and happy to get stuck in

• A degree or professional qualification (such as CIP, ACII or a Compliance Institute designation) is an advantage

What's on offer

The profile and accountability of a PCF role and flexible working. You will attend the Dublin office as required and join monthly Executive Committee meetings, in person or remotely, with some travel to the UK.
