Apply Description Overview Client First Technologies (CFT) is seeking an IT Asset Management (ITAM) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support for our government customer. The ITAM SME serves as the senior advisor to a large federal agency on the design, execution, and continuous improvement of an enterprise-scale IT Asset Management program. The SME brings independent expertise and to assess current program capability and provides strategic guidance, analytical rigor, and practical recommendations that enable agency leadership to make informed decisions and drive the program forward. The SME advises on strategy, governance, process design, technology selection, and performance measurement to help the agency build an ITAM capability that is authoritative, scalable, and continuously improving. This role requires deep ITAM domain knowledge, strong federal program acumen, and credibility and communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This is a full-time, remote position with the possibility of occasional on-site meetings in Washington, D.C. Requirements Assess current-state ITAM maturity, establish performance baselines, and develop multi-horizon strategic plans that drive measurable improvement across hardware and software asset management program areas Advise on the design of standardized hardware and software asset lifecycle workflows, providing recommendations for integrating automated discovery tools with authoritative asset records and service management platforms Conduct process optimization analysis to identify inefficiencies, improve data quality, and surface automation opportunities across the asset lifecycle Evaluate advanced ITAM technologies (including AI-driven discovery, predictive analytics, and automated compliance monitoring) and develop prioritized, actionable implementation recommendations Provide advisory support on program management infrastructure including plans, schedules, work breakdown structures, risk registers, and stakeholder communication approaches Advise on the design and operationalization of ITAM governance frameworks including decision rights, accountability structures, escalation protocols, and compliance review processes across enterprise stakeholder groups Develop performance measurement frameworks, analyze KPI trends, and produce findings and recommendations that enable data-driven decision making at all levels of leadership Facilitate cross-functional stakeholder engagement across IT, finance, procurement, security, and field operations to build alignment and support adoption of new ITAM processes and governance structures Provide rapid-response advisory support for emerging requirements, audit and oversight inquiries, and ad hoc analytical needs, deploying subject matter expertise with minimal lead time Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Systems Management, or a closely related field required Master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in ITAM management, advisory, or consulting roles within large enterprise or federal government environments Demonstrated experience across both hardware and software asset management, including full lifecycle workflow design, license entitlement management, and compliance positioning across major publishers Proven ability to assess ITAM program maturity, identify gaps, and develop strategic recommendations grounded in recognized frameworks including ISO/IEC 19770 Experience designing and operationalizing ITAM governance frameworks including decision rights structures, RACI matrices, escalation protocols, and policy development Experience applying Lean Six Sigma or value stream mapping to process analysis and improvement in asset management or related disciplines Proficiency with enterprise ITAM platforms such as ServiceNow SAM/HAM, Flexera, or equivalent Strong analytical and data skills including license utilization modeling, total cost of ownership analysis, and data quality assessment using Excel or equivalent tools Experience with endpoint discovery and management tools including Microsoft SCCM/Intune, Jamf, or equivalent MDM/UEM platforms preferred Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills Physical Demands Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time Occasional travel and overtime may be required Required Clearances and Screenings Must be able to successfully satisfy a Tier 2/Moderate Risk government background investigation
