About You

IT Change Manager About the Role

We are looking for an experienced IT Change Manager to support the governance, assurance and continual improvement of our enterprise Change Management practice.

The role is responsible for ensuring that changes to technology services are appropriately assessed, approved, implemented and reviewed in a controlled manner. The primary objective is to minimise operational risk and service disruption while improving the quality, consistency and success of technology change.

Working across Technology Services and multiple business areas, you will provide oversight and challenge throughout the Change Management lifecycle. You will partner closely with Change Owners, Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Management and Technology teams to strengthen change planning, improve governance and embed lessons learned from change-related incidents.

This is an IT Service Management and operational governance position, rather than an organisational or business change role.

The position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

  • Help implement and mature the Change Management practice across the organisation.

  • Ensure change activities comply with organisational policies, control requirements and audit standards.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen change controls, improve governance and enhance service stability.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Change Management processes and best practices.
  • Support Change Advisory Boards, Emergency Change Advisory Boards and other governance forums.
Change Assurance and Quality
  • Review technology changes to ensure risks, impacts, dependencies and implementation requirements have been appropriately assessed.
  • Challenge incomplete, inaccurate or poor-quality change submissions.
  • Work directly with Change Owners to improve planning and submission quality.
  • Ensure testing, validation, communication and rollback plans are sufficiently documented.
  • Promote consistent risk assessment and change categorisation.
  • Provide oversight of high-risk and business-critical changes.
  • Monitor change success rates, failed changes and change-related incidents.
  • Identify recurring causes of change failure and lead targeted improvement activities.
Emergency and Expedited Change Management
  • Govern Emergency and Expedited Change processes.
  • Ensure urgent changes receive appropriate review, approval and documentation.
  • Provide oversight and challenge for high-risk or time-sensitive change activity.
  • Coordinate post-implementation reviews where required.
  • Identify recurring emergency changes and work with stakeholders to reduce avoidable urgent activity.
  • Monitor compliance with emergency change controls and escalation procedures.
Incident and Problem Management Collaboration
  • Build strong working relationships with Incident Management and Problem Management teams.
  • Participate in investigations into change-related incidents and service disruption.
  • Support root cause analysis where change is identified as a contributing factor.
  • Own and coordinate actions assigned to Change Management following relevant incidents.
  • Ensure corrective and preventative actions are progressed and completed within agreed timescales.
  • Drive accountability across Technology teams for implementing agreed improvements.
  • Embed lessons learned from incidents into Change Management processes and governance controls.
Stakeholder Management
  • Develop effective partnerships across Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Management, Configuration Management, Asset Management, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Risk and Compliance, Technology, Delivery and Project teams.
  • Promote the adoption of Change Management standards and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Change Owners and other stakeholders.
  • Influence technical and business teams to improve change quality, planning and risk management.
  • Challenge stakeholders constructively where change activity does not meet the required standards.
Reporting, Metrics and Compliance
  • Produce accurate and timely management information on Change Management performance.
  • Monitor and report on key measures, including:
    • Change success rates
    • Failed changes
    • Emergency change volumes

    • Process and control compliance
  • Analyse trends, risks and recurring issues to identify opportunities for improvement.
