The impact you’ll make
The Operational Technology (OT) Engineer is responsible for supporting, securing, and managing OT infrastructure, systems, and devices used within engineering labs and manufacturing environments. This role ensures operational continuity, cybersecurity compliance, asset lifecycle management, and technology standardization while acting as a bridge between business functions, engineering teams, manufacturing operations, and IT organizations.
What you’ll do
1. Security & Governance
- Ensure compliance with corporate Information Security policies and standards.
- Develop and maintain OT policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Manage cybersecurity controls including:
- Security patching
- Anti-malware solutions
- Device certification and audits
- Asset inventory management
- Support security exception evaluations and remediation activities.
- Maintain OT network security, firewall rules, segmentation, and device access controls.
2. Operations & Support
- Provide operational support for OT infrastructure, systems, and devices.
- Manage OT hardware and software lifecycle processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical incidents (P1/P2).
- Deliver onsite and after-hours support when necessary.
- Maintain OT asset inventories and hardware standards.
- Support engineering and manufacturing systems
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and system health monitoring.
3. Technology & Innovation
- Advise business stakeholders on technology strategies and risk reduction.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
- Participate in OT architecture reviews and technology assessments.
- Support global OT standardization initiatives.
- Contribute to automation, application modernization, and infrastructure improvement projects.
4. Project & Service Delivery
- Lead or support OT-related infrastructure and business projects.
- Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide recommendations for lifecycle replacement and technology refresh programs.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.
5. Business Partnership
- Act as the primary OT point of contact for engineering and manufacturing organizations.
- Coordinate activities among OT, IT, Security, Facilities, and Business teams.
- Translate business requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
- Represent OT in operational reviews and strategic planning discussions.
- Serve as the "voice of the business" while balancing operational, security, and safety priorities.
Who we’re looking for

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting OT, IT Infrastructure, Manufacturing IT, or Industrial Automation environments.
- Experience with:
- Windows administration
- Endpoint security
- Patch management
- Asset management
- Network fundamentals
- Incident management
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Preferred qualifications
-
- Experience supporting manufacturing cleanroom or engineering laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with Industrial IoT (IIoT), SCADA, PLC, or manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and auditing requirements.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, Defender, BeyondTrust, or similar enterprise tools.
- Project management experience.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
