We're looking for a hands-on IT Infrastructure & Operations Engineer to join a growing technology team within an established financial services business.
This is a varied technical role where you'll take ownership of infrastructure support, keeping systems secure, stable and running effectively. You'll work across infrastructure, backup and recovery, patching and vulnerability remediation, helping ensure the business has a reliable and resilient IT environment.
We're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, investigating problems and finding solutions. This is a hands-on technical position rather than a people-management role.
Responsibilities -
- Providing 2nd and 3rd-line technical support across the IT infrastructure, investigating and resolving complex incidents.
- Supporting Windows Server, Microsoft technologies, virtualisation and network infrastructure.
- Monitoring backup operations, investigating failures and supporting data recovery and disaster recovery activities.
- Carrying out routine patching and ensuring infrastructure vulnerabilities are identified, prioritised and remediated.
- Investigating security findings from vulnerability scans, penetration tests and audits, taking ownership of remediation through to closure.
- Supporting infrastructure resilience, replication and disaster recovery testing.
- Working with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve service performance.
- Maintaining accurate technical documentation and contributing to operational reporting.
Requirements -
- Experience in a hands-on 2nd/3rd-line IT infrastructure or operations support role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and wider Microsoft infrastructure.
- Experience supporting virtualised environments such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Practical experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including troubleshooting backup failures and performing restores.
- Experience of vulnerability management, security patching and remediation.
- Good understanding of networking, including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to take ownership of technical issues.
- Experience working within financial services or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
The type of person we're looking for
You'll be technically confident, practical and comfortable working independently. You'll enjoy resolving infrastructure problems, improving security and keeping systems running smoothly.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to remain hands-on technically and make a genuine contribution within a close-knit technology team.
