All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
The IT Lead Developer, SAP Solutions will provide hands-on technical leadership for SAP custom development, enhancements, workflows, interfaces, forms, reports, conversions, and extensions supporting the Finance and Accounting Reinvention (FAR) program. This role will help deliver a modern SAP S/4HANA-based finance platform by leading Advanced Business Applications Programming (ABAP) development activities across design, build, testing, deployment, cutover, hyper care, and transition to support.
The IT Lead Developer, SAP Solutions will work closely with SAP functional teams, solution architects, integration leads, security, data, testing, business stakeholders, and system integration partners to ensure technical solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with clean-core principles. The ideal candidate will bring strong SAP S/4HANA technical experience, deep ABAP development expertise, practical understanding of finance business processes, and the ability to lead technical teams through complex enterprise transformation delivery.
Essential Functions:
- Lead SAP ABAP development activities for the FAR program across SAP S/4HANA Finance, related SAP products, and impacted enterprise systems.
- Provide technical leadership for custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows, APIs, CDS views, OData services, Fiori extensions, user exits, BADIs, enhancement spots, and other SAP development objects.
- Partner with SAP functional leads, solution architects, and business process teams to translate validated requirements and functional specifications into high-quality technical designs.
- Promote clean-core design principles by challenging unnecessary customization, recommending standard SAP capabilities, and using side-by-side or extensibility patterns where appropriate.
- Review and approve technical specifications, development estimates, code quality, unit test results, peer reviews, and transport readiness.
- Lead development delivery across program phases, including solution confirmation, design, build, integration testing, system testing, user acceptance testing support, cutover, go-live, hyper care, and production stabilization.
- Coordinate ABAP development work across internal teams, system integrator resources, offshore teams, and other vendors to ensure scope, quality, schedule, and accountability are maintained.
- Support integration design and development with SAP BTP Integration Suite, SAP APIs, middleware, retained applications, and finance-related edge systems such as Maximo, Power Plan, Workday, Workforce, Workiva, banking platforms, tax solutions, and reporting platforms.
- Ensure SAP development work supports security, role design, segregation of duties, SOX controls, auditability, data privacy, performance, resiliency, and long-term operational supportability.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical defects across SAP custom objects, enhancements, interfaces, data conversion programs, workflows, and performance issues.
- Establish and enforce development standards, naming conventions, documentation expectations, code review practices, transport management processes, and release governance.
- Partner with testing teams to define technical test scope, resolve defects, support regression testing, and ensure development objects meet performance and quality expectations.
- Support data conversion and migration activities by designing and validating ABAP programs, data extracts, transformations, load utilities, reconciliation reports, and exception handling capabilities.
- Mentor developers and technical analysts, helping build internal SAP development capability and knowledge transfer for post-go-live operations.
- Provide clear status reporting on development progress, risks, dependencies, issues, and decisions for program leadership and Agile Release Train governance.
