ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an IT Operations Engineer to help keep our shared platforms and applications secure, reliable, and running smoothly. Working closely with our IT Director and our DevOps Engineer on our Product & Innovation IT team, you’ll support colleagues across our Network Planning, Analytics, and Consulting teams, as well as the broader firm.
This role combines systems administration, application support, and elements of cloud infrastructure and DevOps. Your work could range from managing platform access and troubleshooting application issues to configuring cloud resources and improving how we support new applications.
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of systems and workflows, learn new technologies, and develop documented processes that make the team’s work more consistent and scalable.
We’re looking for someone who is resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable solving unfamiliar problems independently. Clear communication, collaboration, and sound judgment about when to seek input are essential.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
This role supports our internal teams by overseeing, planning, and managing key platforms and applications. This is a hybrid devops/sysadmin role that includes aspects of network administration, platform engineering, and application administration.
- Configure and administer our Databricks platform, implement operational controls and monitor adherence to security policies and opportunities to optimize costs.
- Manage and support applications used by our colleagues, including ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub, Airflow, and Linear, and maintain user permissions and configurations in line with role-based access and least-privilege principles.
- Resolve application, access, and environment issues, prioritizing requests based on urgency and user impact.
- Use and maintain reusable Terraform modules and Terraform/Terragrunt configurations to provision cloud resources.
- Support our AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) application platforms, troubleshooting infrastructure issues and improving security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Empower internal teams developing custom applications by establishing and maintaining consistent practices for continuous integration, automated code reviews, internal deployments, and application lifecycle management
- Create and maintain clear documentation, turning recurring requests and unfamiliar tasks into repeatable processes.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in systems administration, network administration, and/or application support, with responsibilities beyond basic helpdesk support.
- Experience administering shared platforms or applications used by many people, including evaluating the impact of configuration changes and prioritizing issues based on urgency and user impact.
- Strong organizational skills and an ownership mindset, with the ability to manage work independently, follow through on commitments, and stay aligned with team priorities.
- Strong understanding of user management, security controls, role-based access control (RBAC), and least privilege across multiple platforms and applications.
- A thorough understanding of cross-platform authentication and identity technologies and concepts, such as Microsoft Entra, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and OAuth.
- Experience designing, managing, and troubleshooting networks across regions and cloud providers, including virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, and DNS.
- Strong systems administration skills in Linux or Windows, with good working knowledge of the other.
- Hands-on AWS experience, including networking, S3, RDS, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Familiarity with software development and application deployment patterns and best practices.
- The ability to learn unfamiliar systems, adapt to changing tools and priorities, and solve problems independently while recognizing when to seek input.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical colleagues and create useful documentation.
Additional experience that would be helpful:
- 4 or more years of relevant professional experience
- Experience provisioning and/or administering Databricks.
- Familiarity with Terraform and Terragrunt as well as general Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, with GitHub Actions, Docker and/or Kubernetes.
- Experience managing environments and workloads in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Azure, especially around aspects of identity and access controls.
- Experience with agentic workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP) services, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or other LLM application infrastructure.
- A degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required.

COMPENSATION: $110,000-$145,000 (depending on location and experience) + performance bonus
