This is a remote position.

Project Description

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java-based backend development, modern frontend frameworks, REST APIs, database technologies, and cloud-based application environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java and modern frontend technologies.
  • Develop backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Framework.
  • Build responsive user interfaces using React or Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and enterprise application services.
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases to develop efficient queries and data-access layers.
  • Implement application security, authentication, authorization, and error-handling mechanisms.
  • Write unit tests, perform integration testing, troubleshoot defects, and improve application performance.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and other developers.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, Agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Use Git and CI/CD pipelines to support version control, automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Support application releases, production troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.


Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in Java development and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and RESTful web services.
  • Experience building frontend applications using React or Angular.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience developing and integrating APIs and microservices.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
  • Familiarity with Git, Agile/Scrum, debugging, and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with Kafka or other messaging technologies.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring, performance tuning, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with automated testing and enterprise application deployments.
