JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Job Pack Engineer

Work Arrangement: Remote / Online


Job Purpose

The Job Pack Coordinator is responsible for preparing, organizing and coordinating fabrication and installation work packages based on project requirements and information provided by the Project Manager.

The role is focused on converting project drawings, specifications and scope information into clear and practical work packages that can be directly used for fabrication and installation activities.

The position requires a good understanding of piping fabrication, construction methods, engineering drawings, material requirements, welding quantities and basic fabrication and installation planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, piping isometrics, specifications, MTOs and other technical documents provided by the Project Manager.
  • Prepare complete and practical fabrication and installation work packages.
  • Break down project scope into manageable fabrication and installation activities.
  • Review drawings and identify required pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, supports and other materials.
  • Prepare and maintain Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and material requirement lists.
  • Calculate welding quantities, weld counts and weld inch based on project drawings and work scope.
  • Prepare and maintain weld lists, spool lists, fabrication lists and quantity tracking sheets.
  • Review fabrication requirements and determine the information, materials and resources required to execute each work package.
  • Develop basic fabrication sequences and installation/erection plans where required.
  • Prepare fabrication priorities and installation sequences based on project requirements.
  • Identify missing drawings, information, materials or technical details that may affect fabrication or installation.
  • Review drawing revisions and ensure that work packages are based on the latest available information.
  • Identify discrepancies or constructability issues in drawings and raise them to the Project Manager for clarification.
  • Prepare and maintain work package registers and status trackers.
  • Track the progress of work packages from preparation through fabrication and installation.
  • Prepare quantity and progress reports based on spools, welds, weld inch, materials and installation quantities.
  • Support the Project Manager with fabrication and construction planning, quantity calculations and technical information.
  • Maintain clear and organized electronic records of all work packages, drawings, calculations and supporting documents.
  • Attend online project meetings when required and provide updates on work package status, outstanding information and planning issues.
  • Perform other technical coordination and planning duties assigned by the Project Manager.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Construction or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in piping fabrication, mechanical construction or oil & gas projects.
  • Practical experience in piping fabrication and construction is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and understand piping isometrics, P&IDs, GA drawings, MTOs and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience preparing fabrication or construction work packages.
  • Good understanding of piping materials, fittings, valves, flanges, supports and fabrication methods.
  • Experience with weld calculations, weld inch calculations and fabrication quantity calculations.
  • Basic understanding of fabrication, erection and installation planning.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD. Experience with other engineering/project software is an advantage.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote/online working environment.
