Job Title: Joint Use Designer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Joint Use Designer to join our team and contribute to our telecommunications and power delivery markets. This role involves working closely with our communications design services, energy distribution services, utility pole inspection, and environmental services. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations by providing top-notch service and support. Responsibilities Interpret aerial fiber optic route proposals and incorporate them into OSP design, utilizing skills in map reading, data interpretation, and photo interpretation. Import collected data into OSP design and organize it accordingly. Complete the design of aerial OSP projects using Adobe, GIS, Excel, and industry-specific computer software with minimal direction. Utilize 3D modeling software to ensure the structural integrity of utility poles. Comprehend and follow written procedural documents and verbal guidance related to OSP design. Review data collected by the Field Crew to check for height clearance violations, propose make-ready requirements, run sag and tension calculations, and perform pole loading analysis. Deliver maps indicating necessary make-ready requirements. Essential Skills 3+ years of Joint Use Aerial / Overhead Fiber Design experience. Experience using pole loading analysis software such as O-calc pro or SPIDAcalc. Familiarity and understanding of NESC codes, including clearance rules for power and communications on poles. Ability to correctly answer NESC-related questions regarding communication attachment clearances. Additional Skills & Qualifications Desire to be in an Engineering Drafting / Design role. Experience with drafting or Adobe for engineering purposes. Telecom, fiber, or power delivery. Work Environment This is a 100% remote position with flexible working hours. Employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime. Mi-Tech provides all necessary hardware. Start times are flexible between 6 am and 9 am. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
