Jr. Full-Stack Software Engineer

COMET Informatics LLC is looking for an inventive, purposeful full-stack software engineer (front-end and back-end expertise) - database experience a plus. You will join the team to develop appropriate technologies for new capabilities that extend the COMET system to support key market segment requirements as well as support legacy software implementations. You will form a pivotal role with the existing software team in delivering new products for our company, including helping to define innovations in system usage, operations, quality assurance, and deployment. In collaboration with our marketing/sales and account management teams, you will develop software, as well as best practices, testing, and documentation to support continuous improvement.

The essential expertise on day one is deep knowledge in C#, SQL, .Net, Angular Typescript, SASS coding, and development. We are also involved in a major product/digital transformation from existing technology to more advanced software architecture (including Microsoft Azure) and tools (see below).

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for other developers to design and implement solution features.
  
• Responsible for working with the Engineering Manager and other team members in defining the product data architecture.
  
• Will work closely with the Engineering Manager and Product Owner in defining the technical feasibility of our product set and roadmap.
  
• Review and contribute to technical and functional specifications (i.e., business requirements, workflow, system architecture, use case, etc.).
  
• Responsible as key project member in migrating a legacy database to a more modern database and COMET’s selections of development tools, processes, and methodologies.
  
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing appropriate documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and understandable clear code.
  
• Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures, and support engineering participation in the quality assurance process, as necessary.
  
• Working within the development team to meet project delivery dates per project schedules and timelines.
  
• Develop integrations between third-party data systems and the COMET system, adhering to data privacy and security considerations.
  
• Take an active role in process improvements in such areas as user experience, code review, and unit testing.
  
• Assist in maintenance activities, ensure customer support, and account management issues are addressed.
  
• Partner with the marketing and account management team to allocate resources toward initiatives that support the long-term growth goals of the product line; communicate with all levels of staff.
  
• Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding data privacy and security.
  
• Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
  

Basic Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of industry experience as an individual contributor
  
• Located in or near Rochester, NY.
  
• Relational database knowledge; experience with web development using Angular.
  
• Experience working in an Agile /Scrum environment.
  
• Experience with user experience, user interface design, and mobile application development.
  
• Experience with integrating data systems.
  
• Ability to work independently from conceptual design to system implementation and test.
  
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency in a challenging environment where continuous innovation is a way of life; a proven results-oriented person with a delivery focus.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  
• High attention to detail, including precise and effective customer communications.
  
• History of teamwork and willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done.
