About the Role: Junior AccountantWe are looking for a detailed-oriented Junior Accountant to help maintain daily financial accounting, manage client documentation, and build scalable financial systems. In this role, you will work directly with startup founders and executive teams to ensure accuracy and clarity across their books.
Key Responsibilities- Transaction Coding & Reconciliation: Accurately code and reconcile daily bank and credit card activity; review entries for accuracy.
- Balance Sheet Management: Prepare, update, and maintain balance sheet schedules and record monthly journal entries.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage vendor/client bills and payment schedules.
- Revenue & Cost Accounting: Execute established workflows to prepare monthly Revenue and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) entries.
- GAAP Alignment: Identify required adjustments to align accounting records with US GAAP standards.
- Process Improvement: Document standard operating procedures and create repeatable processes for onboarding new clients.
- Client Communication: Address financial inquiries directly with clients via Slack and email in a clear, professional manner.
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
- Core Fundamentals: Fundamental understanding of double-entry accounting (Debits vs. Credits).
- Communication: Business-fluent written and spoken English, with strong interpersonal skills for client interaction.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookup functions, data manipulation).
- Work Style: High analytical aptitude, strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work full-time during Eastern Standard Time (EST) evening hours to align with primary client coverage.
- Software: Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) .
- Background: Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional accounting firm experience).
