We are looking for an experienced U.S. Tax Accountant who can own a portfolio of clients end to end, from bookkeeping and monthly close through year-end tax filings.
This is not a back-office role. You will:
- Meet with clients directly
- Explain their numbers and obligations in plain language
- Follow up proactively on what's missing
- Become the person clients trust to guide them
We want someone equally comfortable in a tax return and in a client meeting.
ResponsibilitiesTax
- Prepare and review U.S. federal and state income tax returns, including:
- Individual: Forms 1040 and 1040-NR
- Business: Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
- Foreign-owned U.S. LLCs: Form 5472 / pro forma 1120
- Prepare and file annual information returns (Forms 1099 and 1096)
- Prepare sales tax returns and manage multi-state compliance, including state franchise tax and annual reports
- Calculate estimated tax payments and advise clients on timing
- Research complex tax issues and recommend practical solutions
- Review IRS and state notices and draft responses
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain client books, including:
- Journal entries
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Monthly close
- Prepare financial statements and management reports, with basic analysis of revenue trends and profit margins
- Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules and fixed asset records
- Review and reconcile payroll records and employment tax filings (Forms 941, 940, W-2, and state payroll returns)
- Perform periodic reviews of client records to ensure accuracy and flag issues early
Client Relationship
- Lead client onboarding: gather information, set up accounts, and establish engagement expectations
- Hold regular video and phone meetings with clients, in English and Turkish
- Explain tax results, obligations, and planning opportunities clearly
- Follow up proactively on missing documents and open items
- Keep client communication, tasks, and documents organized in our practice management platform (TaxDome)
Team & Firm
- Collaborate with firm leadership and support junior team members
- Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and research as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and tax, including hands-on U.S. tax return preparation
- Excellent written and spoken business English. All interviews will be conducted in English.
- Native-level Turkish
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. bookkeeping practices and the monthly close process
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar)
- Experience with professional tax software (Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries, ProConnect, or similar)
- Confident, professional client communication skills
- Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work U.S. Eastern Time hours consistently, with a reliable internet connection and a quiet home office
- Turkish CPA license (SMMM / YMM)
- Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, or actively preparing for the EA exams; U.S. CPA progress
- US GAAP experience
- International tax experience, such as:
- FBAR / FinCEN 114 and Forms 5471 and 8938
- Tax treaties
- Foreign-owned entity structures
- Payroll experience (Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Payroll)
- Experience with TaxDome or another practice management platform
- Experience working with Turkish entrepreneurs doing business in the U.S.
- USD base salary, based on experience

- U.S. Daylight Saving Time (March–November): approximately 4:00 PM–12:00 AM Türkiye time
- Winter months: approximately 5:00 PM–1:00 AM Türkiye time
- Tax season (January–April ) may require additional hours.
