Junior Accountant
Riga, Latvia
Hybrid working: up to 2 remote working days per week
About the role
We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in Riga, with a primary focus on supporting the accounting and financial control activities of 3S Money (Luxembourg) S.A.
You will work closely with the Luxembourg Finance team and support the day-to-day accounting, accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end close and audit processes of our Luxembourg business and its branches.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone at the beginning of their accounting career who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with financial data and keen to develop practical experience within an international and regulated financial services environment.
Our mission
3S Money is reinventing international business banking. Founded in 2018, our mission is to help growing businesses send, receive and exchange money in over 190 countries. With offices in five countries and over 180 employees, you’ll be joining a high-energy, high-impact team that’s achieved profitability and has a wealth of opportunity ahead.
Our culture
At 3S Money, we believe in caring personally, staying curious and making an impact through collaboration not competition. Our culture is genuinely transparent with minimal hierarchy and a commitment to each employee’s professional growth.
Our team
We're a team driven by data, financial insight and collaboration, and we're looking for someone who can connect detailed financial information with the wider commercial picture.
If you enjoy improving financial processes, working with department heads on budgets and forecasts, and turning variances into meaningful insight that shapes business decisions, we’d love to meet you!
What you’ll be doing
- Process and review supplier invoices relating primarily to the Luxembourg entity and its branches, ensuring appropriate coding, supporting documentation and approvals.
- Support the accounts payable process, including preparation of supplier payments and follow-up of outstanding invoices and queries.
- Assist with bank, balance sheet and inter-company reconciliations and investigate differences where required.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in Sage Intacct and ensure transactions are recorded in the correct entity, account, period and dimensions.
- Assist with VAT-related accounting processes and preparation of supporting data for Luxembourg and branch VAT reporting.
- Support reconciliations and accounting activities relating to the Luxembourg entity’s branches.
- Assist with preparation of audit support and statutory-accounting working papers.
- Support inter-company accounting and reconciliation of balances with other entities within the 3S Money Group.
- Respond to routine queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Help maintain finance procedures, reconciliations and supporting documentation in an organised and audit-ready manner.
- Support the Luxembourg Finance team with ad-hoc accounting, regulatory reporting support and process-improvement activities.
About you
You have:
- A degree or relevant studies in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Around 1–2 years of accounting or finance experience; we would also consider a strong graduate with relevant internship or practical accounting experience.
- A basic understanding of double-entry accounting, accounts payable, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage recurring tasks and deadlines.
- A proactive approach - you are comfortable asking questions, investigating differences and following issues through to resolution.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with colleagues across different teams and countries.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- An interest in developing your accounting career in an international financial-services environment.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Sage Intacct or another ERP/accounting system.
