The Junior Azure Administrator supports the day-to-day operation, maintenance and administration of DOCOsoft's Azure environments. Working with the IT Lead, Systems Architect and wider team, the role will carry out routine provisioning and access management, monitor and respond to operational alerts, support Azure-related requests and contribute to maintaining secure, reliable and well-documented cloud environments. The role will carry out routine provisioning of Azure resources in line with established naming, tagging and cost-management standards. Identify configuration inconsistencies and resolve these using established procedures or escalate where required. The role will Administer RBAC, PIM and Entra ID app/group assignments in accordance with established access controls and approval processes, ensuring changes are appropriately recorded.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support for Azure-related incidents and requests, resolving common issues using available diagnostic tools and runbooks and escalating more complex issues appropriately.
- Support the lifecycle management of resources and managed services, including routine provisioning, backup/restore checks and other scheduled operational activities, following established procedures.
- Assist in the development and testing of IAC in line with company standards and established patterns.
- Carry out operational activities in accordance with established security, compliance and change-management controls, supporting configuration reviews, remediation activities, evidence gathering and audits as required.
- Support improvements to existing Azure environments under the guidance of senior team members, including migration, restructuring and remediation activities.
- Monitor Azure, Observability tools and Microsoft Defender for Cloud alerts, triage known issues using established runbooks and escalate complex or higher-risk issues to the appropriate team member.
- Develop and maintain simple PowerShell and Azure CLI scripts to automate repeatable operational tasks, following established source-control and review practices.
- Test infrastructure changes in non-production environments and document outcomes.
- Maintain technical documentation and runbooks following changes.
Key Requirements:
- 1+ years’ experience in systems/cloud administration
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- AZ900 Certification and experience working in Azure environment
- Comfortable with PowerShell, Git, and Azure CLI for automation and troubleshooting. Able to quickly learn new Azure features and services as they are adopted.
- Follows change management protocols rigorously, ensuring all actions are logged and reviewed. Maintains up-to-date documentation for all operational procedures.
- Analytical Mindset: Proactively analyses monitoring data, cost reports, and compliance signals to identify trends and potential issues before they escalate.
- Works effectively with IT, system architects, and end users.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with both highly technical teams and less technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with IAC (Bicep, Terraform) for deploying Azure resources.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, and WAF.
- Experience with Log Analytics KQL for deeper troubleshooting.
- Exposure to Azure Cost Management and Reservations/Savings Plans.
- Basic knowledge of SQL Server or Azure SQL administration.
- Experience working in Zero Trust or security‑focused environments.
- Knowledge of hybrid environments (Azure Arc, on‑prem connectivity).
