The Experience You’ll Create:
Continental is hiring a Junior Counsel to join our Legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. This role supports the business on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, employment, corporate governance, compliance, and disputes. This is a hands-on position with close mentoring and suits a lawyer early in their career who wants broad in-house experience.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, such as NDAs, vendor, customer, supplier and services agreements.
- Research legal issues and write clear, practical memos and guidance for business teams.
- Help run compliance programs, such as privacy, code of conduct programs, training, and policy updates.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, disputes and specialized matters, and track matters and spend.
- Support due diligence and integration work on transactions.
- Spot legal risks early and escalate issues to senior lawyer when needed.
- Help improve legal processes, templates and self-service tools for the business.
Ingredients for Thriving:
- JD from an accredited law school, and active bar membership in good standing in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Indiana or Pennsylvania.
- 2–4 years of experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Contract lifecycle management system and legal matter management system experience.
- Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to explain legal issues in plain terms to non-lawyers.
- Sound judgment on when to escalate.
- Ability to independently manage many matters at once in a fast-moving environment.
- Exposure to commercial contracting and corporate work is preferred.
Work location: The role is located in Troy, Michigan with the opportunity for hybrid work.
