Are you curious about what data can tell us and eager to uncover the story behind the numbers?

We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst to join our Internal Audit team and help us make smarter use of data across the organisation. You will take ownership of recurring analyses, investigate trends, unusual results, and turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. As you develop, you'll have the freedom to improve existing analytics, introduce new ideas, and create analyses that make a real impact. Because we're not looking for someone who simply updates reports. We're looking for someone who asks why. Why did something change? Where do we see unusual patterns? Can we identify risks earlier? Could a process be automated? And what new insights could help improve operational or financial performance?

Your Role at a Glance

This role gives you the opportunity to develop a valuable combination of data, business and audit skills. You will gain hands-on experience in data analytics, visualisation, SQL, Python, automation and data preparation, while developing your understanding of business performance, hotel operations, risks and controls. As you grow into the role, you will move from understanding and updating existing analytics to improving and automating them, and developing new analyses of your own. Our ambition is to help you grow from someone who can analyse data into someone who can use data to understand and improve a business. As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will:

  • Maintain, validate and improve recurring monthly analyses and dashboards.
  • Analyse large datasets from different business systems, including SAP and our property management systems.
  • Use SQL, Python, Power BI and other analytical tools to transform data into meaningful insights.
  • Investigate trends, anomalies, unusual transactions and potential fraud or control issues.
  • Look beyond what happened and investigate why it happened and what we can learn from it.
  • Improve and automate recurring analyses and data preparation processes.
  • Develop new analytics to identify risks, prevent losses and uncover opportunities to improve operational and financial performance.
  • Create clear dashboards and visualisations that help management and other stakeholders understand and act on your findings.
  • Work with the Internal Audit team and business stakeholders to turn questions and ideas into data-driven analyses.
  • Help improve data quality, reliability and the way we use data throughout the audit process.

What Makes You a Great Fit

This is a junior position, and we do not expect you to know every system or technology from day one. We are more interested in your analytical mindset, technical foundation, curiosity, and potential to grow. You enjoy working with data, but even more importantly, understanding what it means. When something stands out, you want to know why. You bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, Finance, Accounting, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with, or a good understanding of, Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • A basic working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Some experience with Python or another analytical programming language, gained through your studies, an internship, a first professional role, or personal projects.
  • An understanding of how raw data needs to be prepared, structured, and validated before it can be analysed.
  • The curiosity to investigate unexpected results rather than simply report them.
  • The ability to translate analytical findings into clear business insights.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Experience with SAP (HANA), Caseware IDEA, ETL, data automation, predictive analytics, or business areas such as Internal Audit, Risk, Controls, or Finance is an advantage, but not required.

Practical information

  • Based in Hoofddorp, Amsterdam area.
  • Hybrid working: 1-2 remote working days per week.
  • Approximately 20% travel.
  • Reporting to the Internal Audit Director.
  • Professional fluency in English is required.
