We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines and infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about data, enjoy solving technical problems, and want to build a career in data engineering within a fully remote work environment.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Collect, process, transform, and integrate data from various internal and external sources
• Support the development and maintenance of data warehouses, databases, and data platforms
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot data processing issues
• Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
• Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and business teams to understand data requirements
• Support the automation of data workflows and reporting processes
• Document data pipelines, data sources, processes, and technical procedures
• Assist with data migration, integration, and transformation projects
• Contribute to improving data reliability, scalability, and performance
• Stay updated with modern data engineering technologies, tools, and best practices

✅ Requirements

• Entry-Level / Junior candidates are welcome to apply
• 0–3+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, database development, or a related field; internships and academic projects included
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL
• Familiarity with Python or another programming language
• Basic understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline development
• Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar platforms
• Basic understanding of data warehousing and database concepts
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus
• Experience with tools such as Apache Airflow, Spark, dbt, Kafka, or similar technologies is a plus
• Basic knowledge of Git and version control is a plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating with distributed teams
• Fluent in English
• Based in Malaysia with legal authorization to work full-time
• Able to work effectively in a fully remote environment
