Our environmental consultancy is growing — and we’re looking for experienced professionals to grow with us. We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Environmental Consultant with 1+ years’ experience to join our growing team in Castlerea, Roscommon, Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to build on their consultancy experience, develop their technical skills and take increasing responsibility for projects across a range of sectors.

You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects involving the extractive industries, waste management, residential, commercial, and industrial developments, gaining valuable experience while working closely with experienced consultants, clients, external specialists and statutory authorities.

What We Are Looking For

The Role

You will support the delivery of environmental projects from inception through to completion, developing your project management and technical skills along the way.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the delivery of environmental projects, including preparation of proposals, programmes, reports and technical documentation.

• Assisting with project management, including budgets, programmes, resources and deliverables.

• Preparing and contributing to environmental assessments, reports, applications and supporting documentation.

• Supporting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects and coordinating inputs from technical specialists.

• Assisting with EPA Industrial Emissions Licence (IEL) applications and other environmental licensing projects.

• Supporting discharge licence, waste licence and waste permit applications.

• Assisting with By-products – Article 27 and End-of-Waste – Article 28 applications.

• Liaising with clients, colleagues, external specialists, contractors and other stakeholders.

• Supporting engagement with County Councils, An Coimisiún Pleanála, the EPA and other statutory authorities.

• Undertaking site visits, inspections and environmental surveys as required.

• Developing your understanding of Irish planning and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

• Contributing to business development and maintaining positive client relationships.

• Working collaboratively with senior consultants and progressively taking ownership of your own projects and tasks.

Technical Experience

We are seeking candidates with a solid foundation in environmental consultancy and experience in some of the following areas:

• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

• Environmental licensing and permitting

• EPA Industrial Emissions Licence (IEL), waste licence/permit and discharge licence applications

• By-product (Article 27) and End-of-Waste (Article 28) assessments

• Preparation of environmental reports, assessments and technical submissions

• Irish planning and environmental regulatory processes

You do not need to have experience across every area listed above. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong foundation who are keen to broaden their experience and develop their technical expertise.

Essential requirements

• 1+ years’ experience in the environmental sector, ideally within a consultancy in Ireland or the UK

• Degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline

• Experience supporting environmental projects and preparing technical reports

• Understanding of Irish environmental legislation and regulatory processes

• Strong communication, analytical and organisational skills

• Ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team

• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop

• Full clean driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional site visits
