Help build how people see a doctor and look after their health, online, wherever they are.

About Dr.Online

Dr.Online is a fast-growing international telemedicine company making quality healthcare accessible through simple, patient-centred digital care. Patients across several European countries use our platform to book appointments, have video consultations, get prescriptions and manage their health. We also build for partners, with a white-label booking solutions and APIs that let other companies offer our care to their own customers.

We’re a small engineering team, so the work you ship reaches patients and doctors quickly. You’ll learn across the whole product (web, backend, mobile and data), with mentoring from experienced engineers, and take on more ownership as you grow.

We’re hybrid, with one day a week at our office in Almada. Based elsewhere in Portugal? We also hire remotely for the right person. Just tell us where you’re based when you apply.

What full-stack means here

At Dr.Online, full-stack really means the whole stack. One week you might build a screen in our web app, the next a background job, a database migration, a fix in the mobile app or a change to our cloud setup. Nobody knows all of it on day one, and we don’t expect you to.

What we do expect is the attitude to say “I haven’t done this before, but I’ll figure it out”: research it, try things, ask the team, and find a way. We’d rather hire someone who learns fast and asks good questions than someone who already knows a narrow slice and wants to stay there.

How we work with AI

We’re AI-native: coding agents like Claude Code, AI assistants and Lovable are part of our daily work, and you’ll use them from your first week. You still own what you ship: you understand what you merge, and patient data never goes into an AI tool.

What you’ll do

• Build and improve features in our web and mobile apps

• Build APIs, database models and background jobs

• Help integrate third-party services (payments, health records, e-prescriptions)

• Improve the tools doctors and our operations team use every day

• Write tests and learn how we run CI/CD and our cloud infrastructure

• Take part in code reviews, planning and technical discussions

Our stack

TypeScript everywhere · Node.js with Fastify · PostgreSQL with Prisma · Redis and BullMQ · React with TanStack Router/Query and Tailwind · Solid.js · React Native with Expo · AWS with SST · pnpm and Turborepo monorepo

What we’re looking for

• Hands-on experience building web applications, whether from a job, an internship, university or personal projects

• Good working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript, HTML and CSS

• Experience with React or a similar front-end framework (Vue, Angular, Solid…)

• Some experience building APIs with Node.js

• Basic knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL

• Comfortable with Git

• Fluent in English and Portuguese, written and spoken

• Comfortable saying “I don’t know yet”, then researching, asking and finding a way

Nice to have

• Experience integrating third-party APIs

• Some knowledge of HTTPS, DNS or a cloud provider such as AWS

• Unit and integration testing (Vitest, Jest, Playwright)

• Mobile development (React Native or Expo)

• Data tooling (Python, SQL, ETL pipelines)

• Interest in healthcare or other regulated products

Don’t tick every box? Apply anyway. We care more about how you think and learn than about a perfect match.
