Junior Product Engineer at NARWHAL PROJECT

NARWHAL PROJECT builds a maritime operating layer connecting vessel teams, operators, suppliers and freight forwarders. The platform brings procurement, logistics and fragmented operational data into one workflow. AI agents handle repetitive coordination, including reading emails and updating systems. This fully remote team works on real shipping operations.

The role

Build the TypeScript and Postgres coordination layer that keeps ships running. Connect vessel teams, suppliers and forwarders through shared structured state, transactional email, agents and parsers. You will own backend features from unclear requirements through launch and maintenance, and work closely with product and operations.

What you will work on

• Build APIs and workflows in TypeScript, Node, tRPC and Zod.

• Model procurement and logistics data in Postgres, Drizzle and SQL.

• Integrate email, documents, suppliers and freight forwarder systems.

• Improve AI-assisted coordination with traceable, reliable software.

• Write tests, review code, document decisions and ship in an asynchronous team.

What we are looking for

• 1–3 years of backend development on products used by real customers.

• Strong TypeScript and SQL skills, including schema and query analysis.

• Product judgment: clarify the problem and own outcomes beyond a ticket.

• Testing and debugging habits; comfort reading an existing codebase.

• Clear written communication across time zones.
