Role Overview
We are looking for a Graduate / Junior Snowflake & Power BI Developer (IC1) to join our data platform team and grow your career in data engineering and business intelligence. Working alongside experienced developers, you will help build and maintain the ELT pipelines, Bronze/Silver/Gold data layers, data models and Power BI reports that power analytics and reporting across Keyloop. You will deliver well-defined tasks and stories with guidance, learn Snowflake, Power BI and modern data engineering practices hands-on, and build a strong foundation to progress to an IC2 role. Experience or interest in Snowflake, Power BI, or both is welcome; we will help you build skills in whichever is new to you.
Key Responsibilities
-
Deliver well-defined tasks and user stories on the Snowflake platform with guidance and code review from senior developers
-
Write and maintain SQL & Python for data transformation, cleansing and reporting use cases
-
Create and update Snowflake database objects such as tables, views and simple stored procedures, following team standards
-
Support the build and maintenance of ELT pipelines
-
Learn and apply Keyloop's Bronze / Silver / Gold data layer standards
-
Write unit tests and basic data quality checks for your changes
-
Help investigate data issues and pipeline failures, escalating appropriately and learning from root-cause analysis
-
Build and update Power BI reports and dashboards on Snowflake Gold-layer data, with guidance
-
Support data reconciliation between source systems, Snowflake and Power BI reports
-
Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, refinement, sprint reviews) and keep Jira tickets up to date
-
Contribute to technical documentation: data dictionaries, pipeline runbooks and how-to guides
-
Take part in code reviews to learn team conventions and share feedback with peers
-
Work through a structured learning plan, including working towards SnowPro Core and/or Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) certification
Required Skills & Experience
-
0–2 years of experience in a data, analytics, or software development role, or a relevant degree, apprenticeship or bootcamp
-
Good working knowledge of SQL: SELECT, JOINs, GROUP BY, filtering and basic aggregations
-
Understanding of relational database concepts (tables, keys, relationships, normalisation)
-
Interest in data engineering, cloud data platforms and BI, with a willingness to learn whichever of Snowflake or Power BI is new to you
-
Analytical, problem-solving mindset and attention to detail when working with data
-
Basic familiarity with version control (Git), or willingness to learn
-
Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort asking questions and seeking feedback
-
Ability to manage your own tasks and meet agreed deadlines with support
Mindset & Behaviours
-
A genuine curiosity and drive to keep learning, both through structured training and by figuring things out yourself
-
Enjoys a challenge: you're motivated by solving problems you haven't seen before rather than put off by them
-
Accountable for your work: you take ownership of your tasks, follow through on commitments and are open when things go wrong
-
Keen to learn and use AI tools (such as Claude or GitHub Copilot) to work smarter, for example to write, review and test code, troubleshoot issues and produce documentation, while checking outputs carefully
-
Open to feedback and willing to ask for help when you need it
Desirable Skills
-
Exposure to Snowflake, or another cloud data warehouse (BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse/Fabric)
-
SnowPro Core or Microsoft PL-300 certification, or progress towards either
-
Some experience with Python for data manipulation or scripting
-
Awareness of data warehousing concepts such as star schemas and fact/dimension tables
-
Exposure to ETL/ELT tools
-
Exposure to Power BI (Power Query, DAX, data modelling) or a similar BI tool such as Tableau
-
Experience working in an Agile team or using Jira, including through university or personal projects
-
Personal, academic or open-source data projects you can talk us through
