Job Description
The K–12 Program Manager oversees the Albion Institute’s K–12 professional learning portfolio and leads its ongoing operations and instructional support functions. The position directly manages educational content specialists and is accountable for portfolio planning, course administration, operational performance, learner engagement, instructional-team coordination, and effective delivery of K–12 offerings.
As product manager and the primary program and people leader for K–12 offerings, the Manager establishes product and operational priorities, coaches and evaluates educational content specialists, monitors product and service performance, and coordinates the instructional team. The Manager partners with the Learning Experience Manager, who leads learning-experience strategy, formal instructional quality assurance, development execution, and substantive course redevelopment. The K–12 Program Manager leads ongoing delivery, learner and instructional-team support, operational decision-making, and implementation of approved course and process improvements.
This is a promotional opportunity for current employees of Idaho State University only.
This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations and Course Administration
• Manage the K–12 professional learning portfolio. Lead day-to-day administration, staffing, and operational delivery; establish product and service priorities; assign work; manage dependencies; and ensure accountability for results.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve operational processes, workflows, documentation, and service standards. Participate in center meetings and processes as invited, representing K–12 product, program, staffing, and learner needs and following through on assigned actions.
• Maintain a comprehensive inventory of program needs, operational issues, risks, and enhancement opportunities; resolve routine matters and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
Instructional Personnel Supervision and Learner Support
• Directly supervise educational content specialists and oversee course graders. Recruit or participate in selection as assigned; establish expectations; assign and review work; provide coaching, training, regular feedback, and performance evaluation; and ensure timely, consistent, high-quality learner support. Coordinate with the Learning Experience Manager when staff assignments involve formal course development, quality reviews, or substantive redesign work.
• Coordinate educational content specialists, instructors, teaching assistants, graders, and University partners as an instructional team to address course-delivery needs, resolve issues, and support consistent and effective program operations.
• Manage and facilitate online discussion forums that promote meaningful interaction within courses. Ensure educational content specialists and other instructional personnel provide timely check-ins, substantive feedback, and appropriate follow-up to students.
• Provide advising to prospective and enrolled learners regarding K–12 professional development offerings, course selection, registration and completion requirements, and program policies.
• Connect learners with appropriate University student-support, accessibility, and related services, and coordinate follow-up when additional assistance or intervention is needed.
• Coordinate with the Dean of Students and other appropriate University offices to support learners and instructional personnel in addressing student concerns, support needs, and matters requiring specialized assistance or escalation. Develop timely solutions, follow through on agreed actions, and escalate matters requiring specialized assistance or formal review. Refer recurring or systemic concerns that may indicate a learning-design, assessment, accessibility, usability, or product-performance issue to the Learning Experience Manager for evaluation.
Course Quality, Performance, and Continuous Improvement
• Monitor course delivery, learner feedback, discussion activity, completion rates, service levels, staff and grader performance, student concerns, and other course-health indicators. Use these measures to manage operational performance and provide evidence to the Learning Experience Manager for product evaluation and improvement planning.
• Conduct routine post-launch reviews of course content, assessments, learner communications, and course configuration to identify operational, editorial, consistency, accessibility, or learner-support concerns. Correct minor issues within established standards and delegated authority. Document and refer concerns involving learning design, assessment validity, accessibility compliance, multimedia, technical functionality, or substantive redevelopment to the Learning Experience Manager.
• Resolve routine delivery and operational issues within delegated authority. Consult the Learning Experience Manager on substantive instructional-design, product-quality, accessibility, development, or redevelopment decisions and coordinate implementation of approved improvement plans.
Course Development, Launch, and Program Growth
• Represent K–12 operational requirements in the planning and development of new courses, and coordinate operational implementation, launch readiness, and ongoing delivery in partnership with the Learning Experience Manager. Validate staffing and operational readiness, establish post-launch support procedures, receive the completed operational handoff, and manage ongoing delivery following launch.
• Maintain accurate product, course, and program information. Assign, review, and approve the work of educational content specialists within established standards and authority. Coordinate substantive instructional, assessment, accessibility, multimedia, or product-design changes with the Learning Experience Manager before implementation.
• Develop and maintain the K–12 product roadmap in alignment with Institute priorities. Collaborate with Marketing, the Learning Experience Manager, academic partners, and Institute leadership to evaluate learner and market needs, recommend product enhancements or expansion opportunities, and support portfolio, investment, and lifecycle decisions.
Compliance, Reporting, and Decision Support
• Monitor program operations for alignment with established institutional policies and quality, compliance, and accessibility standards; address routine issues and escalate matters requiring specialized review or formal determination.
• Prepare operational and product-management reports addressing course activity, learner support, student concerns, educational content specialist and grader performance, service levels, product health, operational risks, and improvement needs. Provide relevant evidence to the Learning Experience Manager for product-performance evaluation, improvement planning, and executive reporting.
• Recommend K–12 product priorities, investments, enhancements, refreshes, and retirements using operational results, learner outcomes, market information, organizational capacity, financial considerations, and input from the Learning Experience Manager and other partners.
Success in this Position Requires
• Demonstrated ability to manage an educational product portfolio, lead people and programs, set priorities, monitor employee and course performance, identify operational or instructional issues, make sound decisions, and ensure appropriate follow-through.
• Strong organizational, communication, documentation, technology, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, prepare reports and updates, and work effectively with students, direct reports, and internal and external partners. Ability to work within shared governance by making timely product, personnel, and operational decisions while consulting the Learning Experience Manager on substantive instructional-design, product-quality, accessibility, development, and redevelopment matters. Ability to occasionally respond to questions or concerns and offer solutions outside regular office hours when urgent course or student needs arise.
