Project Goal

Own the end-to-end execution of transforming Checker's R&D electrical and mechanical designs into functional, high-quality UAV engine prototypes. This role is responsible for sourcing components, coordinating manufacturing and assembly, managing prototype builds, troubleshooting hardware issues, and ensuring prototypes meet performance, quality, and reliability requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Design

• Design analog and digital circuits for UAV and embedded systems.
• Develop schematics and PCB layouts for control boards and electronic modules.
• Select and evaluate components including MCUs, sensors, power management ICs, communication interfaces, and RF modules.
• Optimize designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Product Development

• Collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, Software, and System Engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support architecture definition and hardware requirement analysis.
• Participate in design reviews and technical feasibility studies.
• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.

Testing & Validation

• Conduct circuit bring-up, debugging, and hardware validation.
• Develop test plans and validation procedures.
• Perform EMI/EMC, thermal, environmental, and reliability testing.
• Analyze failures and drive corrective actions.

Manufacturing Support

• Work closely with manufacturing partners during prototype and production stages.
• Support NPI activities and production ramp-up.
• Create hardware documentation, BOMs, test procedures, and manufacturing instructions.
• Manage ECO implementation and product revisions.

Required Skills

• Experience in hardware design and development.
• Experience bringing products from concept through production.
• Experience with embedded electronics products.
• Understanding of power electronics and battery systems.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
• Experience with PCB design tools

Nice to Have

• Experience in UAV, drone, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or defense industries.
• Experience designing Flight Controller, ESC, ECU, Sensor Boards, or Communication Modules.
• Familiarity with STM32, NXP, TI, Microchip, or Nordic platforms.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance and reliability testing.
• Understanding of aviation or aerospace standards is a plus.
