Location: Remote, Western U.S. (Southern California preferred; CA, AZ, NV, OR or WA considered)
Territory: Western United States and Canada
Travel: Up to 30%
About the Role
You’ll be the main point of contact for an established base of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers across the western U.S. and Canada. The focus is keeping these relationships strong and growing them over time, with support from dedicated technical and customer service teams.
You’ll join a seven-person team as one of three OEM Key Account Managers, each covering a region (West, Central and East).
What You’ll Do
Manage and Grow Customer Relationships
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned OEM accounts.
- Build relationships across purchasing, engineering, operations and leadership.
- Develop account plans that support retention, growth and profitability.
- Spot opportunities to expand product use and project participation.
- Add select new accounts based on territory priorities.
Support Customers Day to Day
- Prepare quotes and commercial proposals.
- Manage pricing discussions and negotiate terms within guidelines.
- Bring in technical experts for product selection, system design and troubleshooting.
- Work with customer service and supply chain to keep orders on time and resolve issues.
Forecast and Track the Market
- Deliver accurate monthly forecasts for your accounts.
- Monitor market conditions, pricing trends and competitor activity.
- Flag risks and changes in customer buying patterns.
- Keep account activity current in CRM.
Travel
- Visit each account in person at least once a year (about 8–10 trips).
- Attend 2–3 industry conferences and one annual sales meeting.
- Travel typically runs 20–25%, up to 30% when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as business, engineering, science, or manufacturing.
- Account management or commercial sales experience in water treatment or a related industrial market, such as filtration, industrial equipment or chemicals.
- Experience managing and growing existing customer relationships.
- Working technical knowledge of water treatment products, and the judgment to know when to bring in specialists.
- Strong skills in quotes, proposals, negotiation and forecasting.
- Clear communication, strong organization and a collaborative style.
- Ability to travel up to 30% across the territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in water treatment.
- Experience selling to OEM customers.
- Familiarity with reverse osmosis, membrane separation, ion exchange or related technologies.
- Experience with project-based purchasing and variable demand.
- Experience with CRM and forecasting tools.
